Man, you have to be kidn' me Rally!!! I definitely do not want to lose performance. But I wasn't planning in stretching the tires too much as well. I was going to put Hankook RS2 225/17s.

I hope it is not too late to change my order.

Thanks!

What offset were you planning on running? Especially with 225's. Fitting wide wheels isn't a simple bolt on.

do you have an r56 or r53? The R56 has a little more room to fit 8's....so it might help with the 8.5's.

It's pretty hard to run 8.5's without poking atleast a little bit. The people running 8's and meaty tires are just barely squeezing them in there.

I ran 205's (obviously stretch) on my 8.5's and still rubbed.

I have an R53. The shop is going with 40ET (F&R) and they said 225s should not have any problems. They installed Fikse wheels (17x8.5) on R53 couple of weeks ago w/225s and so far no problems from owner. I told them those are Fikse not BBS. They said. "it doesn't matter, the beauty of having custom wheels made is to get the tightest fit on the car and have no issues with rubbing.

I'll keep you posted.

I personally don't know where Hancooks are made...honestly, I thought they were made in Europe. What I heard however, the RS2s are great on the tracks.

Well good luck with that. They are right about it not mattering between companies....offsets are offsets no matter what company it is.

They MIGHT not rub if you don't lower your car at all.....but 8.5" wide wheels will look pretty stupid at stock ride height.

With an offset that high (40) you'll poke close to a full half inch past the fender. You'll have a slight bit more poke than Konky did with his 17x8's and he had to run stretched 205's to clear the arches.

And my guess is that you'll rub the front struts if you keep that offset as you have 33mm less clearance on the inside than the stock wheels.

Edit: Here's a pic of Konky's wheels. You'll poke a little bit MORE than his fronts (closest to the camera). As you can see he had to stretch 205's to avoid hitting the arches with his wider wheels. You're gonna be running the wheels further out and with MUCH more tire...

im running falken 225's om mine with no rubbing issues.
im not sure of the rim width though. I would rather go a little narrower on the rim size to avoid the "stretched" tire look. i dont like it when the rim sticks out past the tire. I like the tire to have a slight bulge protruding form around the rim.

wow, ET45.

Man, i always get confused with the offset selection. Your ET45 ha your 7.5inch wide wheels nicely fluch with your fenders. A 7inch wheel will probable require a ET38 to get it like yours.......

Is there a definitive way to get it spot on without actually mounting the wheel to the car?

The method I use is that a 7 et35 or et33 is RIGHT at the fender. You can compare any other width (7.5, 8, etc) to that using the offset calculator.

The rim width is the main issue though....7's are easy to fit. It's just fitting 8"+ that's hard.

Hankook is a Korean company, but there's still a possiblity that some of the tires are produced in China--perhaps the low grade tires are.

Thanks Samtrak,

Glad you like the wheels, I was wondering about your fenders, did you have to modify the wiper tanks to fit those fenders. I was looking into them a while back and heard from a few people that said fitting was tricky. and the wipers never worked the same.
I like the look of the both, where did you get yours from?

Not sold yet, still talking with someone locally who should be checking them out at the shop that did the install for me. I'm a bit hesitant to go through the process of shipping them.
