Japan my bestfriend's japanese so he hooked me up with a set. original color was bronze with some curb rash so i had them repaired and painted diamond black. since production for these wheels have stopped, getting a used set was the only way previous set of rims was 17" Volk Racing TE37 repainted in magnesium blue but somehow i didn't feel all that excited with it on the MINI after drooling over a set for some time now and it looked too JDM IMO. at least with the SE37K, i have the benefit of Japanese technology with European sophistication

shipping from the Philippines to the U.S. would be quite expensive

You would be surprised, its not all that much. I got a set of 17 x 8 TE37's for my WRX years ago from a guy in Japan, he shipped it regular post and it was like $100 or so.

i'll try to take some pics probably by sunday. left Smacky in our other garage yseterday because we're expecting a typhoon to hit us by tonight last weekend a typhoon hit us pretty hard (410mm of rain in 9 hours, worse flood in Manila in 40 years), Smacky was safely at home (on jackstands waiting for the SE37K).

d.p: you didn't get taxed for the TE37s you brought in from Japan?

sorry to hear about that man. i hope she's safe now. thank God our family, house & cars were safe during Ondoy's fury. people in the east suffered the most a lot of houses & cars were flooded. car dealers & repair shops now are full of flooded cars.

No. I bought them from an American living over there who got them second hand from a Volk rep. I paid $1600 shipped from Japan, which wasn't bad because I bought some brand new 17 x 8 CE28N's stateside for $1900 a little earlier that year.

This was all back in 2003/2004.

Fronjoni,
hows the ride on your tires... I live in LA too and I know how crappy the roads are. If you were to get new tires, would it be the same size?

Thanks.

honestly,
if you're looking for comfort, 18's are probably not the best deal
the most comfortable ride ive had with my car after lowering was...
hankook ventus rs2 215/45/16...very soft, smooth, and you'd always hook when turning....

but in answer to your question, for this wheel, yes i would get the same size tires...cant go any bigger, and definitely dont want to go any smaller.

Thanks everyone!

bbm, the tires are 205/40/18 (wee bit of stretch). The wheels are 18x8 et45. I'm running 7mm spacers up front to clear my KW's. As low as I am, I'm rubbing the underside of the fender trim a bit, but I'm gonna trim it down a bit this weekend so I can get a little lower. Hope that helps.
