By all means, yes. Booooo wheelgap.

What kind of budget are you working with? You could try looking around for slightly used lowering springs or coilovers.

I'm very new to the wheel/suspension world so I don't know if it is really a budget but like hopefully under $800 I'd really like more around 500 but I'm not sure if that is possible

That's certainly possible. If you just want to keep it at a moderate drop, you can grab lowering springs for around $200. VMAXX are the budget coilover if you want more drop, they're still under $800.

Ohhhhh thanks for the input yeah its not a HUGE drop i wanna do just snug it down by like 1.5"....

Any preferences on what springs or where I can buy them at? Or would i even want to do that myself or just find a shop that will do it for me.

Vmaxx are pretty good coilover too. Noticed a slammed GTI in Euro Tuner this month that is running Vmaxx.

I had a set, but sold them before putting them on my car. They come with everything you need ie: endlinks and bushings for the rear. I got mine for less than 600 shipped.

They are height adjustable too. There are a couple draw backs to installing springs. You could end up wearing out the stock shocks/struts and maybe the stock endlinks. I'd go with the vmaxx. If 500 is your ceiling they may be just out of reach though. Good luck on the decision.

PS: Look into NM engineering springs. RS alphas are good.

I guess the UPS man was hiding around the corner for me to leave before trying to deliver them. I left for work at 4pm and he showed up at 4:04.
I went to the UPS hub today, the guy behind the counter said there was no way I was getting all 4 boxes into the Mini. Again, he was wrong. three across the back and one in the "truck" area.
Then there was a "couple" leaving about the time I took the cart back. He was a normal sized hillbilly, Dale Jr. hat, wranglers boots. His wife was a trailer park princess at 400lbs, wearing a yellow outfit. I'm walking back and he's looking at the Mini shaking his head....
You'll have to imagine a really horrible redneck accent.
"Howdooya drive that thang? Dontcha get all squished up?"
I just said no, and opened the door, told him it was designed for someone 6'5" and it was very comfortable. It took EVERY LAST DROP of self control I had to NOT say...
"How do you have sex with THAT? Dontcha get all squished up?" or "I drive this cause if my wife gets too big to fit its time for a new one.." "I drive this so I dont ever have to worry about brining something like your wife home"....
They were in a POS grand am....
Anyways, victoria wheels and tires is a damn nice place, fast shipping (for free), free lug nuts and they even included the hub adapters for the Mini. I'm happy with them, would have liked a side view of the wheels before I got them, I didnt know the spokes stuck out from the face of the wheel, but I guess it looks good and will be easier to clean than if they were deep dish lol.

VERY nice 79cutlass. I think the wheel sticking out looks nice. When they are in motion, they will look REALLY cool. I'm going to have to look these wheels up. What are they called?

Funny story too

Tenzo R Project 7's. I got them from Victoria Wheel and tire for $860ish with tires shipped for free with free lug nuts and hub adapters. They are 18x8 with a 45 offset. They are VERY close to rubbing on the strut towers in the rear. I orignally ordered a set of J-Mesh black with chrome lip wheels that were 18x7.5, but of course they were out of stock.

Why is it that my 16x8's look wider? Does the offset make a big difference for wideness?

Why does discounttires.com say that 18x9.5's will fit 04-07 mini coopers? Trying to go the widest possible.

Edit: well I gave them a call. They said I'll need to do some fender rolling for the 9.5's to fit. I really want them 9.5's so we'll see :-)

Yes, the offset determines how wide the wheel sits away from the car. Your 16x8's poke so much cause your offsets are way too low.
