Thank you for posting pics of your winter wheels. I need a winter set and didn't want to go the 15" route. I really wanted an idea of what 16" looked like (in black too!). I like what I see!!

Lol... Well that explains why they looked more like "S's" than "B's" to me...

While it does kind of hurt my feelings to buy a replica wheel, I don't know if I can spend $600 or so per wheel especially on crap roads...

Are ASA wheels any good? The AR1s are a similar style and all 4 can be had for around the price of one BBS. Decisions...

According to the box, and documentation, the ASA AR1's are licensed by BBS. So I guess it's not really a knockoff. I bought one to test fit and it looks pretty darn good. It's a cast one-piece wheel, but what would one expect for a wheel that cost 1/5 the price of the original? Worth a look at least.

Hmm, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info! I do also like the ALT 279 wheel (basically the same as the Rota). I guess I just need to decide if I can be ok with a knockoff or not.

The LMs are friggen $780 each. I love them, but that's pretty nuts.

Everything is based upon what $$$$ you will spend, basically. I will admit too, that the BBS LM's are hot, hot, hot... I love the look of 18" wheels on a lowered MINI, but $4800 for wheels / tires?? Perhaps if I was building a show car. I would trailer my MINI to shows and gatherings - not much fun in that. I've seen people do it - back their MINI off a trailer at autocross events, and there's NOTHING wrong with that. I figure the knockoffs will pay for themselves the first time a pothole or speedbump catches me off guard. Geeez, those 18" and 19" wheels on those Florida and California MINI's look sooooo good.

I have the ASA AR1 wheels on my 06 R53. I love the classic BBS look but

sadly don't like the cost. I have had them on since the car was new in

Dec. 2005. They have held up very well (black with a polished lip).

B. BBS LM's are REAL 2 piece wheels and if you were to damage them, they would only cost a fraction of the original price because you could just swap out the damaged barrel for a new one. That's one of the big benefits of true split wheels.

I can totally appreciate sticking to an affordable wheel, but it's easy to find affordable wheels that AREN'T stolen replicas.
So you've licensed the likeness of the vehicles and wheels on the shirts you sell?

I'm all about supporting the real deal and getting a quality wheel/part, especially when it's a key piece, and I've seen cheap wheels shatter, but take it easy there hoss. Even fine manufacturers 'borrow' design ideas.

No image to contribute yet. Just got my Mini a week ago and the wheels are at the powder shop. R94 in flat black on sparkling silver with black roof.

Those aren't even close to comparable. They aren't competing products, which is the issue Rally is talking about. A $20 shirt with a likeness of a $20,000 car, I don't see a huge moral issue.

I am a designer and yes we do take inspiration from many sources, but it is synthesized and adapted. We don't take a picture, trace it in CAD and put it into market calling it our own. At least those of us with integrity.

They look great to me!

Why would anyone think black rims were "over the top" is beyond me.

Would add a black rally stripe down the side along the rocker panels.

Exactly the opposite I think. Very much form over function to an extreme.
