My new wheels!

I am surprised at the number of black rims on MINIs! I didn't expect to ever have black rims as I've always like the contrast of a shiny rim but I ran into a deal I couldn't pass up this last weekend.

The short version of the story is that I wanted/needed to replace my run flats and opted for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. The store (Discount Tire) had a great deal on a set of Drag DS-9's in black with the red pinstripe and so I decided to try something crazy.

Well I have to admit, I like it! The best news though was when my wife looked at it said, "that looks great!".

Now I have to figure out how to complement the wheels by adding pinstripes or other details to the car.

+1 I love my winter wheels now that they’re black. I hated them in stock silver for the past 3 winters...

Found some Bronze honda Fit Rims on Craigslist. May go score these, as long as that isn't a big ol curb rash.... I think they would look so sick on my car.

I agree with BlueToy, they look great. I'm also curious what tire size you went with... I'm guessing either 205/45 or 215/40? I'm waiting for a set to be released by 1552 that I'll be getting and they'll be 17x8 as well and either et30 or 35 (the company hasn't confirmed which but they said they'll be between 30-35), I think I'm set on 205/45's when the time comes for a little tiny bit of stretch.

17x8 +35 is the perfect offset for the front. +30 is perfect in the rear.

I run a 17x8 +35 with a 5MM spacer in the rear and none in the front.

Yeah, but they look good with the matching stripe. IMHO, the red-rimmed wheels just don't work (for me) unless they're part of an overall theme.

Hey everyone,

Finally got around to installing my Miro Type 279 on my 2008 Mini Cooper S. They've been sitting around for about a year. I know, i know... a year!! Something else always comes up right? But, finally. Installed. Looks MEAN. Which was intended.

Wheels - 18x8 Miro Type 279 Powder Coated Flat Black. I replaced the plastic rivets that the wheels came with. I don't really like that look. I would prefer these wheels with no rivets whatsoever, but i got some flat head ones at Home Depot, drilled out the plastic rivets and installed the new ones. Still rivets, but better in my opinion.

Tires - Hankook Ventus V12 Evo

Suspension - NM Engineering RS Alpha Spring Kit - Which are amazing by the way

Phontsolo:
I have rims similar to yours.
Are the rivets you installed plastic?
How did you install, Glue?
Did your new rivets melt at all in the coating process?
I don't like studded wheels myself, but I had no choice and wanted that look with a 3"lip.
Mine are 16x8 et26 (gonna be close)
