I like my photo shop painting but your right, it might be time to update. I am now looking for some auto cross wheels and tires. Could you tell me your set up and why you like it. I'm not going to race but every other month and after buying these last wheels my wife will kill me if I spend to much money right now(what ever). I think I remember seeing a post you made with your set up but I can't seem to find it.
So you can have a great Autox wheel and tire setup for about $800-$900.

F.F.F. - Fatties Fit Fine!
SO I cribbed this slogan from the guys at Surley Bikes, but it seemed appropriate:
Check out my new rollers... The wheels are Team Dymics Pro Race 1.2's from Outmotoring.com. They weigh in at 13lbs each and are 15X7's.
The tires are BFGoodrich GForce Sports in 225/50/R15 and weigh in at 24lbs each.
Grand total, each wheel/tire weighs 37 lbs, or a loss of 18lbs (32%) per corner as compared with my S-lites!

A 16x7.5 might not make that much of a difference but I wouldn't know since I haven't race the car. Are there other wheels that you would recommend in the same price range and weight but in a mesh pattern?
As of right now i haven't really seen too much of a need for 7.5, tire selection is a bit dificult to find above 225 and if you do find 235 you might have rubbing issue's with the strut first before you hit a fender. 225 Hankook Rs-2's fit on my 16x7's no problem and no bulge which shouldn't because causing any skwirm(sp?) issue's.
I guess 16x7.5 would be optimal, and i think there is a group buy going on somewhere for 15x8's, but i'm not sure you'll be able to fit enough tire for those wheels.
Ohh and also if your not planning on upgrading your brakes in the future with a BBK then you can even go down to a 15in wheel (lighter, even quicker gearing, and cheaper tires).
Search for OasisT , he's got a Rota Group buy going for 15x8's i think.

A picture of my wheels with the center cap on it...
I really look foward to install them on my car soon. I only need (actually wait for) new bolts and I'm ready to install them!

Ahhh... the weathers warmed up enough here that I actually ordered tires for the TrakLites I bought a couple of months ago. Another month or so and maybe I'll be able to post a pic or two.

Passat very nice, how is the ride with the big 225/40/18s? If i go back to 18s i will try 215/40/18s, but 225 looks good too, but give 0.0000001" drop, you are in trouble

It's been a long, hard road, and the journey's not quite over yet (dåmn hubcentric rings!) but my wheels and tires are on!

Depends on your definition of "close". ;-) I'd say there's around a half inch between the sidewall and the strut up front. I didn't really check the back. Provided that clearance doesn't change with suspension movement, I'll be fine.

Thanks. They were supposed to be the graphite color, like DiD's and the RallyMINIs' (RallyMINI and RallyMINI2005), but I failed to specify when I ordered. I'm fairly sure I'm losing my mind. Best to enjoy it while I can... :-)
I'm keeping them, but I'm still not sure which color I prefer.
