i have 17x7 with a 45 tire and a 40 offset....i was considering spacers but i dont want rubbing obviously but i would like to be flush with the fenders what size spacer IF ANY would i need to do so more than likley a 5mm ? 10 mm ?
gorgeous ....absolutely the exact wheel stance im looking for looks flush to me ...so i guess with my 40 offset ill be nice and flush(ishh) would 5mm spacers create rubbing.....i swear for the life of me i cannot grasp this offset and camber concept
anyone know any good vendors and brands for wheelspacers.... all my dub friends tell me h&r and BFI are the best ....but im in a mini not a dub lol so mini owners unite and provide some links lol

17x7 rim with +40 offset and M7 Springs might be very close to rubbing depending on which tire you choose.
Don't get anything too wide or too tall. Stock tire diameter is 23.3" so try to be less than that and no wider than 215mm. 205/45-17 is stock so that is possible.
205/40-17 and 215/40-17 are smaller than stock tire diameter so they are OK but lower sidewall is harsher riding and more prone to damage if you hit potholes.
215/45-17 is taller than stock at 24.7" so with +40mm offset that is going to maybe rub when you have four people in the car or just one in the backseat or if you go over uneven roads with dips then you'll scrape the inner plastic liner in the back. Adding spacers will only push the wheels out to the plastic liner more. You want to get an offset that is more positive not less positive so something like +45mm would give more clearance.
+40 offset plus a 5 mm spacer will give +35 mm offset which makes the tire more to the outside of the car- not a problem with tires that are shorter than stock but big problem for those that are taller.
You didn't state the width of the tire you want to use, only that it was 45 series.
hey minihune thank you for that awesome write up ....but my tires are 205/45/17 rims are 17x7 and the m7 springs.....if i were to get a 5mm spacer would that make the wheel stick out of the wheel well ....will it rub ....

205/45-17 is good. M7 spring drop is not that much so clearance should be OK as is, no spacers needed/required for fitment. No rubbing likely even with four people.
+40mm offset will put your wheel up to 8mm toward the outer side of the wheel well compared to stock so that would be sufficient.
Since no spacer is need I would have you try it out first then decide but I would not recommend spacers unless it is needed to avoid rubbing.
For general street use tires are better off being 45 series for comfort. After you see how everything fits for you, look for how the stock tires clearance looks before buying any tire larger than stock like 215/45-17.
