Hamann PG4 wheel and tire combo...
Hey folks, I'm shopping for wheels for my future Mini and have my heart set on a set of Hamann PG4's. While doing some research online I came across this article on tuningmag.net http://www.tuningmag.net/?name=mini-...-tuning-hamann
This sentence immediately jumped out at me, "The rims are booted also in a big style. HM4 needs 215/40 17“ tires. The 18“ PG4 tires are booted into the 215/35 front and 225/35 rear tires. And the Anniversary I model has same tires as the HM4."
Can someone shed some light on this? Is changing the rear tire size just something Hamman did or is it an actual necessity for PG4's as the back wheels are a different size? What I'm basically trying to find out is if I'll be ok if I go with 215/35/18's all round because having two different tires sizes on the car causes too many problems with spare issues etc.
Thanks in advance any help is appreciated.

i think what hamann did is more cosmetic issue other than a performance decision. making the back tires fatter just makes a car so much more aggressive in appearance (IMO!)
but since the mini is a FWD, having fatter tires in the front and narrower tires at the back will enhance the performance in more traction off the line, better turn in performance..etc
but either way, fat tires are always hot!

yea, 215/35/18 would be a fair choice, cause there is alot more option to choose from. the 225/35/18 only have a few to pick from, i only rmb parada spec2 being 1 of them.
but i think 215/35/18 would look great with the rims either way!
hope that helps, and enjoy those heavily priced work of art!

I think that the PG4s for the MINI comes in 18x8 all around. I know HM4s are 17x8 all around. . . For tires, wait til Minihune chimes in. . . I hear 215/35s are pretty small sidewalls. maybe 205/40 instead. Vicious circle: expensive large wheels: small tires: bent wheel: even more expensive. Personally I like the HM4 better.
