Kosei K1 TS is popular in both 15x7 and 17" sizes.

Many of us prefer the smaller cheaper and lighter 15x7 rim (12.6 lbs) because it allows us to run smaller diameter tires of 205/50-15 or 225/45-15 for autocross or track.

But the larger big brake kits might not fit over a smaller rim so the 17" rim would do better. Tire sizes to fit the MINI are not as good. For street driving it isn't so bad but for track or autocross there is less clearance for the tires.

Some examples of the 17"

And examples of my 15x7 rims and 205/50-15 Kumho V710s and PSS9 coilovers

Do they balance and hold up well for daily driving and how is the finish on them? I was thinking they might look good with the lip polished and haven't found anything lighter (14.1lb) for the price...

Mine are balanced using stick on weights and they do OK.
The silver finish on mine can scratch easily, they come in orange and light grey too. My finish is not very durable and it is dull, not clear coated. Perhaps if you got the wheels new and did a clear coat they would do better.

14 lbs for 17" in that price range is very hard to beat. Being light you don't want to hit any curbs or potholes especially with 40 or 45 series stiff sidewall tires.

For a better finish (talke to Alex@tirerack.com) maybe the Enkei RPF-1
17x7" $229 each 15 lbs +43mm offset

Or in 16x7 for $219 13.5 lbs each +43mm offset

Kosei K1 TS on Mini

If I pick up a set of Kosei K1 TS 15x7 for a Mini for autocross (with Victoracers) will I need centering rings? What is the bore on the Koseis?
