Good non-runflat All season tires?

I'm ordering a set of R99s in the next couple of days and I'm trying to figure out a good non-runflat tire that'll suit my needs for every season. As far as tires go, I'm a complete noob, so I'm more than a little bit overwhelmed.

Any recommendations? Best bang for your buck?

I have to deal with snow on a fairly regular basis and its a stock suspension which may be upgraded to a JCW suspension down the road, this is on an R56.

Those Pirelli's look decent. I was thinking either those or the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS in 215/45-17, but I thought they'd be a bit cheaper than the $155 that I'm reading on Tirerack.

Nope, they are good tires so they do cost more. They will handle snow OK but if you have truely a lot of snow then considering winter tires and wheels is possible. Check with others in your area about using winter wheels/tires. If no one does it then you can try the all Seasons.

Basically the choice for stock sized 205/45-17 is limited for All Season tires.
Avon Tech M550 A/S $99

In 215/45-17 there is
Bridgestone RE960AS $155
Yokohama ADVAN S.4 $170
Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season $130
Continental ContiExtremeContact $90
Pirelli PZero Nero M&S $123
and for value
Kumho Ecsta ASX $90
Sumitomo HTR+ $77
The customer ratings do vary
http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=EZ3&url=/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp&width=215%2F&ratio=45&diameter=1 7&type=UHPAS

In High Performance All Season tires in 215/45-17
http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=EZ3&url=/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp&width=215%2F&ratio=45&diameter=1 7&type=HPAS
Bridgestone Potenza G009 $134
Yokohama Avid H4S $96
and for value
Kumho Ecsta AST $69 Also comes in 205/45-17

Generally less wide tires cut through snow easier than wide tires do.

Who am I kidding, I need to just break down and get the Bridgestones, compared to run-flats thats cheap! I just thought I remembered seeing them for like $130 a piece not too long ago :(

Do you have firsthand experience with these tires? I have no experience with Sumitomo. I've had the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S and liked them. Since I now have seperate summer and winter wheels I need some tires to wrap the winter wheels with. We get very little snow here but the temp does stay below 40 for about 4 months. I've been considering the Kumho ASX but would be willing to try the HTR+ if I had some firsthand Mini owner feedback.

Thanks

ASX is quieter - and better in snow
HTR+ is better incorneing responce and hydroplaning resistance

F1 AS would take them both to the cleaners, but not at the same price point

Alex, would you recommend the F1 AS over the Pirellis?

On a side note, one of the guys at my dealer seemed to think that by using non-runflat tires with the new TPMS that it would constantly be going off. I didn't argue the point, but that doesn't make a lick of sense, right?

I like my Nitto Neo Gens M&S. I run a 205/50/16 in those. I also have the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S for my 18's and like them as well.

I like my Kumho ASX 205-50-16 all seasons for my MCS, so much that I got another set of the same tires for my Cooper.

So I guess there really isn't a "best bang for your buck" tire out there. You always get what you pay for, at least to an extent. I was hoping there would be one tire that everybody agreed on was the best for the price. I'm probably going to try the Pirelli's first I think!

For my 2 cents worth, I recently put the F1 AS on my MCS. I live in CO but for the most part my car is a "garage queen" in the winter. That being said, I need new tires, I wanted non-runflats and I wanted something that would work "all seasons". If performance is you concern, I can tell you, you will like the ride, the feel, and the looks of these tires. My momma always said "You get what you paid for"

I must say I have been extremely happy with my Pirelli P-Zero Nero (215/45/17) and I would definitely recommend them.

F1's handle better under agressive driving
Nero MS's are quieter and smoother riding

If the sensors are installed, any tire would allow normal TPMS function.

yep, the HTR+'s are on my MCS right now. they grip fairly well and
stable through the turns.

i ran GS-D3's before and it's not comparable to those as far as stickiness,
but for normal street driving and some spirited driving, the HTR+'s will do
just fine.

the biggest plus is that these tires are quiet and rotateable for long
term use. im coming to the last phase of ownership of my MCS so these
will take me through and beyond (will transfer them over to my commuter's
wheels later on).

I LOVE the Kumho Ecsta ASTs. Sporty and great in rain! Plus they look mean!
