Winter Tire Question

I am going to buy a set of winter tires for my Mini. I currently have the 17" runflats on em now. I looked for winter tires unter my car 07 MCS on Tirerack but my question is can I get 15" tires on my MCS or do I have to stick with 16" or 17" sizes because of the rotors??

Thanks Guys.

I wanted the 15" b/c the smaller the tire the easier itll be to get thru the snow. I am looking at 195/60TR15 Pirelli Winter Carving Blackwall

Thanks

I think because the R56 MCS basically has the old JCW brake kit you can't get most 15's on.

You could get 190 or 195/55/16 tires and mount them on 16" rims. Just watch out because the R56 has 14mm lug nuts while most aftermarket rims are still set for 12mm.

What year MINI wheels started having 14mm lug holes again?

From what I've read on NAM, midway through the 2006 model year.

Yeah mid 06 but it's somewhat of a crap shoot.
Better to find 07 takeoffs than run the risk.

We both live in the same area, and althouh it does not snow much where we are compated to less say Montreal.. It does get cold.

All season tires does not work well under -5 degree C which is when they get hard. I would definatly look into getting a set of winter tires and put them on when the temp gets below zero. You can choose a witner tire with less nobby tires tred, more for slush and ice in our area then snow tires for area with heavy snow like Berri.

I got a set of old 16" MIN wheels with 1 year old Contiental Winters on them...there might be some fitment issues on the MCS, but i got the wheels and tires for 400 and even if i have to run 15mm spacer in the front it will be worth it.
