Much better picture.
I bet in person it's much much better.

Great idea, well done.
Wheel Techniques has shops in Sacramento and Santa Clara.

The polished lip (with no clear coat) has been holding up well. It does not need to be polished as often as weekly. It does get a little spotty or slightly dull occasionally, but I just give it a quick polish with Simichrome and the lip really "pops" and looks great again. I'm happy with the choice to not have the lip clear coated; it has a brighter finish this way, especially after hitting it with polish. The powder coat/clear coat painted centers have been very durable too. No complaints.

I still love the wheels and - yes - they do look better in person . Lots of compliments.

New shoes!

Wheels are holding up great -- both the powder coated centers and the polished lips. Have gotten a few questions about maintenance required on the polished (no clearcoat) lips. It has been very minimal; occasionally hit them with a quick coat of Simichrome and they look new again. They go for weeks in between polishes.

Thought I'd shamelessly promote my car by posting a picture of its new shoes. Replaced the 205/45-17 KDW2's with 215/45-17 Michelin Pilot PE2's. What a big difference - in many ways. But I think that will be the subject of a separate post.

I'm not sure where you are located, but bare aluminum lips wouldn't hold up well to winter salt. Summer use only in my opinion. The wheels look great by the way!

Nice they look like R98 versions of the anthricite R90s on MC40s.

Nice, mine are almost done. Can ask how much the centers cost to powder coat? Me thinks my powder coater is trying to retire! And what color line(brand) is that dark silver? Is it custom? Asking because the color my shop has is way too dark. Thanks.

Thanks, I'm in CA Bay Area -- so basically my "Summer use only" is year-round

See Post #21 for full cost details. Paint was custom mixed to MINI dark silver color code.

My bad. So mine wants to retire, yours is! JK. I was looking at 100. per wheel. But, I was doing the tear down and re-assemble. So not too far off.

Yes, no doubt my wheel guy is retired! But, I plan to recoup the costs when I sell the wheels to PGT somewhere down the road...
