Pics - Web spokes painted dark silver and polished
Well, I finally did it. Liked the stock web spokes on my '06 MCS, so bought a second used set and took them to Wheel Techniques in Santa Clara to have the centers painted matching dark silver color of car and have the lips polished. I'm sure they exist somewhere, but I hadn't seen any like this in the Nor CA area. Wasn't sure how I'd like them, but I think I do.
So, for others who may be considering this, here they are (car is lowered slightly with full Dinan S3 suspension).....
(Additional picture in better light in Post #18 shows greater contrast).
Thanks for the nice compliments.
The centers were painted with a base coat the color of the car and then powder coated with a clear. The lips were polished with no clear coat. I added a closeup pic to better show the contrast.
wow those look amazing! i'd love to see them with slightly less light though, mid day taking a picture doesnt show the contrast as much
I agree about the light - I was just noticing the much greater contrast in the overcast light of a cloudy day today. I'll take some pictures in different light this weekend and post them just for grins.
I took my dad out to lunch yesterday for his birthday. He pointed out one of his employee's cars.....a purple MCS with webspokes. I told him "ask her how much she'll sell her wheels for...I'll get her a new set". He just looked at me like this -

A real sickness. I think my favorite line is from your m/u page where Gardus asks you, "Do you match your alloys to your clothes in the morning?"
wow looks awesome! wheel tech there great! how much did they charge you?
They are not cheap, but they are the best around by far. Cost per wheel was:
$150 to disassemble wheel, paint center section and polish lip + $ 20 to dismount tire, then mount and re-balance
$170 total cost per wheel
