205/45/17 vs. 215/45/17

205/45/17 vs. 215/45/17

When 2 coopers are parked next to each other, one Mini with 205/45/17 and other Mini with 215/45/17, can you tell the difference? Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe Kenchan was running 205/45/16 with his SSR, and looking at his pics, those 205s look pretty beefy already.

those were 205/50/16's on 16x7.5s

im currently running 215/45/17 on 7.5" width wheel. on a 7" 215/45 looks
too beefy.

check out my gallery. posted picts from a few days ago.

if it was 7" i would've just went with a 205/45/17.

215/45/17's are readily available and a very popular size... plus they
look good IF you run them on a 7.5" or wider wheel.

My initial thought you were trying to avoid a stretch look. Sorry for multiple questions directed at you, trying to decide which size to go with. Do you see difference in stance compared to your old tires (205s)? Or pretty much they look the same (width) when mounted?

actually i want a slightly stretched look, plus the slight stretch makes
the tires more stable during high speed cornering.

the GS-D3's i had in 205/50/16 were MUCH WIDER than the
215/45/17 a/s tires i have on now.

the 215/45/17's look good from the back. not narrow like the 205/45/17's
on 17x7 wheels.

Still can't relate why 205/45/16 can look wider than 215s, but yet 205/45/17 look narrow to you.

it all depends on the tire. my 215/45/17 RE01R's are wide like a 225.

those were 205/50/16 as mentioned several times above. high perf
tires have bold sholders and are much wider than a/s tires.

as prev. stated, the 215s from some mfg are the same x-section width as 225s... I can EASILY see the diff. with my 215s vs the stock 205s (they are on the same size rim).

why stop at 235. do 355.
