18x8 wheels on my R53

Guys, my car was used by R1 Racing Wheels for their display booth at the SEMA show in Vegas. They put a set of their "Drift" wheels with what they call "Mass Lip." on it. I did like the look, in fact I still have the wheels in my garage. The thing is, they put 215/35 18 tires on it and the chrome lip stuck out way past the rim protector on the tire.

For use of my car in the show I get to order a set of their wheels. I think I like these, but don't want that damn lip scraping on everything when I park or pull up to the gated community. If I put wider tires like 225/35 on them, will that protect the lip?

Will they even fit?

Here is a pic of the car in the show:

yes I'm on TSW springs. The offset is 40 I think. Here is the link:

hm... well, tire size calculator shows 225/35-18 as being 24.2' versus 23.92 for 215/35-18, but its not the size that worries me, its that width and the offset... 40 is pushing it to run on the plastic wheel arch horribly

that said, i might be wrong, stock height it should be just barely on the line, but a mild lowering might change that...

Well, I did a little driving with it when I took it from the show. Had the wheels on there for a couple weeks. As they were, I didn't notice any rubbing. The problem though, is that the chrome outer ring was very vulnerable and would be destroyed fairly quick with those narrow tires.

What kind of offset should I be looking for?

I think that's more about the wheel design and the size of the rim protector bead. I had Yoko Parada Spec-2's in that size on 18x7.5 Motegi Touge and they have a polished lip on them. no issues.

TSW's give like what less than an inch drop?

I ran 215/35/18 on my 18x7.5 SSR Comps (42 offset) and didn't have any rubbing dropped on H-Sports unless I hit a big dip in the road with a full car. I had more than enough clearance to fit the 225/35 on there. I'd say your safe...
