recommendations for new run-flats?
hello all
anyone have any recommendations for new run-flats? I recall seeing a post somewhere on here that the newer generation run flats were greatly improved over the old ones, so before I go out and get some Falkens for my '03 MCS I thought I'd see what you guys had to say on this.
Is there a decent run-flat available at a decent price that would compare performance-wise to a good uhp all season regular tire?
cheers

Considering you've had zero replies to this post is proof I think that there are not many run-flat advocates out there. . . But count me as one.
I just put on 2 Continental ContiProContact SSR (same size as the OE Dunlops- 195/55-16) about 2 weeks ago. I've already driven in dry, rain, and snow and I'm pretty happy with them. Much more reasonable than the Dunlops ($121 vs. 168) or other options. I'd never make a tire tester, I have a hard time telling much difference. My seat of the pants feel is that I may have lost some grip, but you really have to be at 9/10's to find the small difference. I don't autocross and wanted an all-season (living in Indiana) run-flat for a reasonable price, and I would definitely recommend the Continentals. If you're more discerning, race, or push the limits of grip more, there might be better choices. But I drive reasonably aggressively and I'm happy with my choice.
Hope that helps.

Well I just switched from the run-flat Dunlops 5000 to Falken Ziek 912 non-run flats ($84 each delivered in 195/55/16 from discounttiredirect.com or unsertire.com (sorry but tirerack.com doesn't carry them) and the ride is much improved.
I added a $20 Slime repair and compressor kit to the car and I'm set for all of the same conditions run flats cover!

Next time I will step up to 205/45/17, and maybe switch to a dedicated summer/rain tire and get a set of snows for my 16" rims.
cheers

P.S. got the Smart Spair Slime kit from Wal-Mart as well, looks good and I like the size.
