How much faster do RE-01Rs wear than F1 GSD3s?

Anyone had both on the same car, perhaps even successively, that can give a report on their experience?

Published treadwear numbers aren't really comparable across manufacturers, but I think tirerack lists 180 for the RE-01Rs and 280 for the F1 GSD3s... does that rating delta seem accurate?

My gut tells me I could probably count on 20,000 miles or so from the GSD3s, and 12,500 miles or so from the RE-01Rs, as daily driver tires with two or three auto-x Sundays mixed in. Does that sound accurate?

TIA!

My brother has the RE-01Rs on his subi and they are extremely soft. I wouldn't count on too many miles on those tires. They are just about purpose built for the street tire classes to beat the falkens out. Lots of grip but you will pay with wear.

I'm running the RE-01Rs on my GTI (225/40-18) and made it through all of the last season (before putting Nokians for the snow) and anticipate getting through into most of summer of this year before they become too slick for street use. Had the RE050 the year before and I have found that there is minimal difference i wear between the two.
I drive ~ 32K miles/yr.
Keep in mind they are quite noisy( if that makes a difference for you)

Chili- how does your brother like those on his Subaru?
Aren't the Advan Neovas the tires to beat in street tire classes?

Also, remember that you can't compare treadwear ratings between brands as each manufacturer has their own methodology for assigning those numbers.

depends on the car, for the mini falkens are the win at autoX maybe the hankooks depends on number of runs, weather, tarmac/concrete, etc

Well not a real good comparison because he went from the stock subi bridgestones to those. hard to tell with autocross because its mostly the driver, but they certainly seem to be good tires. But like I said heavily the driver, I won a few times on BF Goodrich KDWs in the stock class (which allows slicks) Those will probably last longer than the Re-01Rs, I just have to make up for a bit with good driving.

I'm happy to see some quality options a notch above the F1. I've had them. I have RE01R's now and love them. Tons of grip and breakaway is clearly controllable (the F1's get 'light' making you nervous at the limit)

Treadwear numbers are probably not too far off.

RE-01R is 180 or less.

GS-D3 280

So roughly RE-01R can wear out about 70% of the time or mileage depending on your use and on tire pressure and load used.

If you do more performance driving I think you will wear the RE-01R out even faster. You can street drive the RE-01R probably about 14,000+ miles.
GS-D3 more like 22,000.

Besides the RE-01R, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric is top notch in Max Performance Summer tires. 240 treadwear 235/40-17. Not many sizes will fit the MINI.

Go w/ the 'stones

Don't get too caught up in the whole UTQG # thing. I've been in the tire business for 13(yikes it's been that long) years, my opinion is, they are best when used for marketing. Most people try to use them to compare different tires and get way too focused on them in making their decision. There are some tires out there that tout a 700 treadwear # and an 85k warranty. We can't get people to keep their air pressure right and they wear out in 40k miles anyway....improper maintenance....always the killer. The RE01R and the F1 are both very aggressive tires. I agree w/ the previous post that the RE is the better of the two, especially if you're tracking the vehicle. I'm non-biased at this point. I've worked for Bridgestone and am now back w/ GoodYear. You probably can't go too wrong w/ either choice. I will say this last thing though, no other tire, has changed the way my vehicle has handled so greatly as the RE01R. They are very nice and worth the price.
Anywho, sorry to rant......just my .02 worth

as stated multiple times, treadwear numbers are not usable for comparisons. they are only useful relative to other tires the manufacturers make. you can't guess that the RE01R will have 70% of the life of the F1 due to their figures
