From Tirerack.com

Ultra High Performance Summer tire
Michelin Pilot Exalot PE2
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....lot+Exalto+PE2
205/45-17 240 treadwear W speed rated $124 each on backorder

High Performance All Season tire
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....t+Exalto+A%2FS
No sizes fit the MINI in 17".
205/55-15 and 205/50-16 both will fit smaller rims for the MINI.
400 treadwear U speed rated

So for the size you got you have Pilot Exalto PE2. This is not for any snow use, otherwise a very good tire for the MINI.

Stick with 205/45-17 ($124 each vs $167 each for 215/45-17).

For stock 17x7 rims the 205/45-17 will work fine (fits rims 6.5-7.5" wide). It's 20 lbs each which is 2 lbs less per tire than 215/45-17. It's wide enough and handles fine.

For 17x7.5 or 17x8 rims then 215/45-17 is a better match than 205/45-17.
215/45-17 is also taller than stock tires so you get less wheel gap, and some speedo and odometer error. Nothing major.

Michelin Stuff

I think there is a Pilot Sport as well as the PE-2. Mine are the 205's

I have been running the PE2 for almost 33,000 miles and they are probably the BEST tire I have ever used,, and that is an A+ for handling as well as wear!

All in all a great buy!

Have fun!

Had a set of the sports on the wife's car, great handling tire but they were toast in about 11,000 miles and she doesn't drive very hard...
