Need a softer ride, please advise

I own a 05 mcs with 17 webspokes i bought used, coming from a 06 mcc. The combo of sport suspension with 17 wheels can be rough with the potholes in so cal. Primarily a fun, family car. 2 Questions.
1. will 07 wheels fit an 05?
2. shouldn't going to a stock 16 wheel be a big improvement?

Thanks.

1. Yes
2. Yes, though the biggest difference will be found switching to conventional (non runflat) tires. The OEM 'rockflats' are jarring even in 16" form.

Yep... if you have the runflats, lose 'em. Carry a Slime/Compressor kit for town driving and get a Cooper spare if you can for longer drives.

What profile (height of the rubber) tires are your 17". I'm running 215 (width) / 40 (profile) / 17 (wheel size). They look cool as they are fairly thin and they handle beautifully. They also don't have a lot of extra padding on 'em, so they are a bit rougher than a thicker 45 profile tire (or more).

If you have a local club handy, you might be able to find someone with a set of 16" non-runflats that you can try on and see how they feel.

Recalling, the tires are 205/45 non runflat dunlops. there seems to be a fair amount of oem 16 around. If someone has some to sell in so cal. you can pm me. I'm also looking in classifieds.
