Getting a grip....?

Being a very new car enthusiast, would you guys (gals) please explain the benefit(s) of running lower tire pressures in the rear vs. front?

Thanks!

When I'm on the track, to help reduce understeer (front tires sliding), add pressure to the rear.

I guess if you run lower pressure in the rear you car would be a bit safer and it wouldn't want to oversteer, but the MINI doesn't want to oversteer anyway. If you drive your car on the street with street tires, just fill 'em up the same. Just my take on it.

The weight distribution in the MINI is very front-heavy... I find I get more even tire wear by running a couple psi higher in the front... and good handling either way... I run 38psi F, 36psi R FWIW...
