Sweet, thanks! Won't be getting wheels till next year, but maybe I can sneak on some 18"s and the gf won't notice, LOL (told her i'd just go with 17"s)

Dan, Sorry if this has been asked already (I looked through the thread, but didn't see it, but my eye-sight is going in my old age
). I have a 2005 Cooper S and I don't plan on lowering this car, so can I put 225/40/18 tires on the Rota MC's without having any rubbing issues? If I go with 35's then I will end up with too much space, that's why I want to stick with the 40's.

Ok, I have a Rota RB question, and I can't seem to find the answer after tons of searching.
I just mounted up a set of Rota RB 16x7s with 215/50-16s onto my 2010 MCS. I have no clearance problems with the tires, but I have a concern with the clearance distance between the inside of the spokes and my front calipers. They aren't touching, and there's no rub...but those spokes look awful damn close to the caliper housing. I really can't get in there and get a good measurement, but it appears to only be 1/16th to 1/8" of clearance between the backside of the spoke and the outside of the caliper itself.
Now is this typical with these 16" RBs? I've read countless posts of them being mounted without problems. But I stick mine on, see that really close clearance and freak out!
Like I said, they don't touch or rub, but they seem closer than I thought they should be. Is this tight clearance normal on the R56 MCS and 16" Rota RBs? Should I be concern? Will the setup be ok? The car is brand new, so the brakes are brand new too. And I suspect the clearance will increase as brakes wear.
Please help me out with some piece of mind. Someone please tell me if this tight clearance is ok, or if I should yank them off. But I am confused, so many other people using these wheels without issue.

The only thing that would flex and rub that has to do with the wheel would be the tire rubbing on suspension pieces or fenders, but that's not the same as what we're talking about here, and nowhere close to the brakes.
So again, if they spin freely and nothing rubs, clearance won't be an issue.

Put it this way, if you can spin the wheels, and nothing rubs, nothing touches, then yer good. If it did while driving, that means you didn't tighten up the lugs at all, or yer wheels are flexing which would be a horrible design flaw, lol.

I took them off for now, just to buy time figuring this all out. I'm now contemplating 5mm wheel spacers for the extra security, that would surely give me the clearance I'd need for piece of mind. But, now I'm trying to figure out if I can still use OEM length bolts with 5mm spacers, and if my wheels would stick out too far looking chessy. Technically, the 5mm spacers would make the wheel a 35 et, and I'm sure there's others running a 35 et with 215 width tires...so my search is on.

Honestly, I don't think these would look as good in a 17. They have the kind of design that makes them look a bit smaller, you know what I mean?

It's okay. We've sold many 16" RB's, and have never had any problems or complaints. There is no amount of thermal expansion or flex that will bring the wheel into contact with the brakes.
Some of the OEM MINI wheels have quite tight brake clearance too, by the way.

GT3 is not made in 17". The closest thing I can suggest is the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2.

You sure? I see it on the Rota site and there are a few sets up on eBay. Hub bore is 67 but shouldn't be a problem w/ some hubcentric rings.

It's the right color car, dark silver...and it's a great compliment to the exterior finishes of the car, it contrasts the paint job without over powering, and the colors blend instead of detract from the exterior.
