What size? Does it offer better comfort than FK452?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been looking for more options and have found this one "Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season" 205/45/17. It has a420 treadwear, is all season and according to reviews, it looks like it gives great performance.... Anybody riding these tires?
Which is the best (performance/comfort/treadwear) tire between this Goodyear F1 A/S, the Falken 912 and the Hankook K104? *205/45/17
Thanks

Jonathan,
I give the FK452 a "5" for wet traction. As for the 205/45R17, I would take the Falken 912 and please stay away from the Hankook K104. It handles really bad in the wet.

Unfortunately Falkens FK452 don't come in 205/45/17, so I am looking for more options if I decide to go back to stock size.
These are my options in 205/45/17...
1. Falken 912
2. Yokohama Parada Spec 2
3. Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season
4. Yokohama S.Drive
Which is the best one in performance and comfort? I don't want a noisy tire and want a great performer in wet and dry.
Thanks

I've run the Faken 512's for several years now. They are the precursor to the 912s which are a few pounds heavier now. Although the 512's were rated for high treadwear, I was replacing them at about 20,000 miles. Initially I rotated them and got close to 30K out of them, then I started doing it the MINI way and replaced the fronts at about 20K. The rears still had enough life. Note I like to drive hard and fast, and I do the occasional autocross. Since the 512s were replaced with a heavier tire, I've decided to switch altogether and go for the Nitto Neo Gens now. They look great, and others in the SoCal area have said great things about them.

I really love Nitto NeoGen's look! Unfortunately they don't come in 205/45/17 neither... That is why I have the Yokohama Parada Spec as my other option. It looks hot too and it seems to be a great performer. Anyway, I need to know more about the Yokohamas.
I guess that if I cannot find a really good tire in stock size, I will go either with Falken 452 or Nitto NeoGen in 215/45/17.
Anyone who can tell me about the Yokohamas?

From what I understand the 215's will fit the 7" wide rim fine-assuming that's what you have. The 205 Falkens look a little stretched on my rims--though that's how Edgeracing was selling them, so I'm thinking the 215's will probably look better. Why are you set on 205's??

I am thinking going back to 205/45/17 because I want to get better MPG and because I want to get better performance too. I know that 215/45/17 creates a false speed reading. When I was on OEM 205/45/17 Pirellis, I was doing 300 miles out of my tank, since I got the 215/45/17 The Mini just does 280... Anyway, I also want to have better performance. The 215 is slower at launch since is about 12mm taller than the 205...
So my point right now is which tire?
Falken, Nitto, Yokohama or Goodyear...

Tires
Falken RT 615'S, my pick for performance (summer) but if milage is a major concern, the 200 tread wear is not for you.Very sticky but will wear sooner than most.Have you decided whether you want a summer or all season tire? Don't think you can go wrong with any of the Falkens.

215 fits and looks well, it gives you a little rubbing in the back, but nothing serious.

If I cannot find a really good tire in 205/45/17, I'll go again with the Falken 452 in 215/45/17. The guys from EdgeRacing have the lowest price and their service is excellent. Check with Leo, he will help you.

I'm looking to get an alternate summer tire and the AZENIS RT-615 are looking pretty good to me for the price, but I have another set of wheels so these are mainly for dry summer sporting...auto cross or occasional track day.
Check out these ratings though could be the best bang for the buck if they suit your purposes...BUT I am buying them for the first time, so a grain of salt could go a long way here...
http://www.1010tires.com/tirereviews...e_reviews.html
Pricing isn't that bad, if you shop around, though the size your looking for is around $100 +/-
http://www.vulcantire.com/cgi-bin/ti...is_rt615_t.htm
As you know the 215/45-17 will be more comfortable but I'm looking to get 205/40-17 for a couple reasons, lighter, stiffer and not as tall, no possibility of rubbing, etc...
Hope I didn't muddy the waters for you.
Good luck

I'll sugest you to don't get 205/40/17. You'll be paying more money in gas... Smaller tire = more rpms' = more gas... If you want you can go with a 215/40/17...that won't be that bad...
Check this site to see the differences...

I'm between Nitto NeoGen and Falken FK452 in 215/45/17 or Falken 912, Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S and Yokohama Parada Spec 2 in 205/45/17...

"Zakly", so true, I use the same link to check out tires and wheels.
To add insult to injury, (worse mileage) a 40 profile is so low that potholes should figure into the picture like never before...
That site: http://www.1010tires.com/tirereviews...e_reviews.html seemed to have fair reviews on several tires, might be helpful if you can't find someone here who's actually put miles on the tires you mentioned.
Sounds like you are on the right track.
See ya.

215/40/17 are cheaper... But my point is if it is better. I know that is smaller than stock size, so I guess it'll make the car drink more gas... and I have heard that you get a harder ride with those too...

Anyway, I want to make sure not to get a cheaper tire that in the long term it will be more expensive by making my car consume more gas...

Unless I'm blind, which is quite possible, the Nitto isn't available in that size.
http://www.nittotire.com/#index%2Etire%2Eneogen%2Esizes
I'm not quite sure of the relationship between a wider tire (205 vs 215) and consumption of gas??
