Autocross with R81 Hollies?

Autocross with R81 Hollies?
For winter driving I have a set of R81 "hollies" on the car now, with standard Continental rubber. With the spring itch coming on strong, I am giving thought to running autocrosses this year (I am a novice). I am thinking of taking the Continentals off and using the Hollies for dedicated autocrossing. Good idea? What size tire should I run? What tire would you use? Costs are important, so the idea of buying a set of $200 tires is a non-starter. But I do need more grip. In their current form, they don't handle the MCS' power very well.
If this doesn't work, I'll put the R81s up for sale in April (if Chicago ever thaws).

If you use them .. you cant be in stock class. With that said. I would perfer the Faulken rt-615 in 205/50/15. It is a stretch to get on the rim but it will fit. This lets you run the the STX class (barring any mods to the car (pulley)). As well as letting you drive both to and from the track.

Best size is 205/50-15
Best autocross street tire for the Holey rim is-
Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R in 195/50-15, costs more than the Falken Rt-615 or Hankook R2S Z212 but performs better and is suitable for street driving (no changing tires at the event) and good for wet or dry weather and is comfortable for street daily use. Only problem is it wears faster with treadwear rating of 180.
195 and 205 mm wide tires will fit the 15x5.5" holey rim with no problems and no rubbing.
Stock classes require the factory sized rims. MCS needs usually 16x6.5 or 17x7 or a JCW rim if that is what you got from the factory.
Downside to Holey rim is being narrow you don't get the full use of the wider 205mm tire. That's why I suggested the 195/50-15 RE-01R, you get less weight, it fits well, and it works nearly to the level of some R compound tires.
