Brake Rotor..!

Hi NAM guys,

I have Mini Cooper JCW (JCW brake). Yesterday i was ridding the car about 124 M/H (200KM) after that i press the brake pedal very much because a car came front of me. Today i was looking on the rotors, 2 of front rotors come purple color.

Can anybody tell me why it comes purple ?

Thanks.

Again; heat.
Metals turn colors as they heat up and cool down. That's all it is. Nothing to be alarmed or excited about. Day or two of normal driving and it will be gone again.

Heat + pad transfer. When you heat up the rotor + pads you will transfer pad to the rotor - this gives you better braking performance.

Check out the whitepapers on http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/te...e_papers.shtml

i'll try to remember to post some pics of my TCE rotors/hats after repeated excusions to 1000-1100*F. unswept portions of the rotor are blue/grey and black anodi ed hats are pink/grey! not pretty anymore, but they still drop anchor.

Heat, lots of heat. Look close on the second shot and you can see where part of the hat has retained its anodizing- the part farther from the rotor.

FWIW, as of late all 13" kits are no using my new 1" larger, 12 bolt hat. Details on the TCE home page.

that is what good calipers, pads and tires do! turn kinetic energy into heat.
todd: temp paint indicates that i'm at about 1100*. although this is within the range of the poly h's and the brakes never fade, do you think that i would benefit from properly installed brake ducts?
