Jack Buying Pointers

HF jack.... FTW
I also have that HF jack. IMO it is great, light weight & stable. The big plus is will go under the front cross member on my Miata. It is usually the jack I grab when I need one. The size & weight make it ideal for track use.
I have to thank Aaron at Outmotoring for turning me on to this jack. He has 2 for use in his shop.
I had a Sears jack that I bought in '78 that worked well with the exception that it weighed in at a metric ton. 30 years later & it still works, but I gave it to a friend. Just too heavy.
I also have one of the new Sears racing jacks. It's got a bit more reach, but weighs more, is bulkier & needs more room to slide under things.
3 thumbs up for the HF.
1 thumb for the Sears.

My Sears Craftsman racing jack also has a 2 piece handle. I still pick the HF one 90% of the time. Yep it's the lightest one.

Apologies for reviving a thread that's a bit old (several months), but while there is some fantastic opinions and information here, I was wondering if anyone had experience with Torin jacks... as those listed on Amazon here:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_au...e+jack&x=0&y=0
Anyone?
What is the best lift capacity? I don't think I really need a 3ton jack but would a 1.5ton be enough?

It appears that Harbor Freight are making knock-offs of the HF (albeit good quality knockoffs). I'd get the HF but I've got 100$ to spend at Amazon, I figure.. why not; I've been wanting to get one for a bit such that I don't have to keep borrowing others'.
Thanks again.
