Nitto Neo Gens?

I've seen one or two posts but nothing seriously mentioned. Just a few "Yeah, I have them" kind of things. What are the opinions about them? There's 2 MINI reviews on Discount Tire about them, 1 "love 'em" and another "Ehhhh" kind of thing. How about opinions from NAMer's. The price seems good and it's a good name.

I've been running a set in a 205/50/16 Neo Gens on my weekend performance wheels for the past year. Love them in the twisty's ! In my Mini group there are about 5 others that run them in different sizes and use them as daily drivers and really like them. My daily drivers are a set of 18 inch wheels mounted with Pirelli P Zero Nero's. When they wear out, I will replace them with a set of Neo Gens. They grip really well, are very quite and on our So Cal freeways, don't trammel on the grooved roads as the Pirelli's do. they also have worn very well over the last year.

Although you only read two Mini Cooper reviews on Discount Tires web site, All of the reviews seem to be very positive !

Hemiheaded18,
I think you'd be quite pleased with the Neo Gens. I've driven about 1200mi of mostly highway in mine, including heavy rain the past two days, and I've found them to be extremely quiet, incapable of tramlining (as pauliekeys mentioned), and just plain sticky! You might even become bored with them because they simply work without any drama. Just know that they are soft tires so don't expect a long life from them.

I'm no tire expert but this story should tell you something: I was buying tires for another car when a shop employee joked that Neo Gens were overkill on my MINI -- he went on to explain that their particular shop typically sells them to the Viper and Corvette crowd. I don't know whether this guy was a tire expert either, but if 500-600bhp car owners are getting Neo Gens because they can put power to the ground, then they're definitely good enough for the cornering abilities of MINIs!

I have a set on my GP and they have performed well in wet and dry conditions.

A good deal of the reviews on discount tire direct are from the high powered sports crowd. It's true though, they are just plain sticky.

I put a set on about 1,000 miles ago, and so far I really like them. They do well on both wet and dry pavement. My MINI is a street driver, no track use for me, but they handle the twisty roads around my area of NC just fine. As mentioned above, they are quite (which is a plus for me), stick to the pavement really well, and handle the rain and wet roads like a champ. I know this may sound stupid, but I like the fact that the sidewall isn't filled with a bunch a use less lettering, so they clean up nicely.

They are more expensive than some other tires that MINI owners favor, but in my humble opinion well worth the extra bucks.
