I am looking for a compact spare to carry in my MCS as I have dumped the runflats. I was hoping to find a cheap one in a junkyard as I know the bolt pattern is the same as many Hondas and Acuras. So far I have found spares with the inside diameter (space for brake) of 11 and 12 inches. The one with 12" inside clarance almost fits the rear wheels ... but not quite. It rubs on the brake as it turns. Anyone know which model cars (if any) have compact spares that fit the Mini?

I can live with a spare that has smaller outside diameter as it will only be used to limp home. Once home, I can put one of the old rims with a runflat on until I get a fix. I also decided I only need it to fit the rear wheels with their smaller brakes as a flat on the front can be solved by moving a good wheel from the back to the font.

One major problem is that many of the import cars with "donut" spares have 13, 14 and 15" wheels as original equipment, and tiny disc/drum brakes.

One option would be to use a spare from an American car, and have a wheel shop replace the wheel center with a 4x100 center... not as hard or as expensive as you might think... ask your local race tire dealer who makes and modifies steel rims for the oval track crowd. Otheriwse, there are hub adapters available.

Also consider the "collapsible" type spare (if you can find one) as on Camaros and Firebirds... takes up far less space.

If you come up with a solution, please let me know!
