hey all, sorry abt this post but i am still confused abt the wheel on my car..
here the question:

i was told that i need snow tires when winter comes..right now its stock run flat but i am not size what size are my rims..the service advisor told me thta i need ot get the same rim size for my snow tires...the pic below show the tires on my car right now....so what do i have on my car now?



the netx post is the snow tires i found but i ahve not bought them yet as i was not sure if it will fit my car..

If you're going to change the tires only, i.e. put the winter tires on the same rims you now have on your car, your replacement winter tires must fit the same diameter wheel (rim) as the tires now on your car.

Look at the sidewall on your present tires...the size will be there in raised letters, for example 205/45/17 with the "17" being the size of the wheel. The size of the replacement tire itself should also be approximately the same, or at least very close in circumference, otherwise all sorts of things get messed up.

If you're going to change tires AND wheels (as many people do), you have a lot of options available including going to a different size wheel/tire combination.

 

i am going to chnang rim and tire together. so will these fit? both seem to be 16...

 

can anyone confirm if it will fit before i buy it?

The pics show both your original tires and the snow tires to be 195/55/16,
which of course are exactly the same size..
I can't tell what the specs of the steel wheels is from the pics, though.
If the bolt pattern is 4x100, and the hub diameter is 56.1 mm, and the
offset is between 40 and 50 et, and the wheels are between 16x5.5 and 16x7, they should fit fine. This info is probably stamped on the wheels somewhere.
What car did the wheels for the snows come off of?

 

You seem to be a bit confused.

Then you ask if these tyres will fit.

Fit what? Your existing rims, or, the new rims you haven't bought yet?

Your current tyres are 195/55/R16 - this means they are on a 16 inch rim.

The snow tyres you picture are also 195/55/R16 - which means they must go onto a 16 inch rim.

So, if you buy these tyres, they will fit your current rims - or, any other 16 inch rim that you choose to buy (assuming you don't buy an over wide rim).

i was oging ot buy the whole snow rim and tires to put it on my car when winter comes and put my runflat rim and tires in storage in winter. it was my 1st tire change adn thus was not sure if it will fit as its a final sale. thta why i was asking in forum for help..thxs ofr letting me knwo thta it will fit..it came off a MINI copper from what seller told me..

so is it a good price for $180 include 4 tires adn rims? thye are like new

16" steel wheels for a MINI Cooper are not very common, so if I were you,
I'd try to make sure that the hub (center hole) is the right diameter for
a MINI (56.1 mm) - same as Honda or Acura 4x100 wheels.
On the other hand, you could always get a new set of 16x6.5 alloys fairly
cheaply if the steel rims aren't compatible and put the blizzaks on them.
Also, what year and model MINI do you have? The newest hardtops use
a 14mm bolt compared to the 12mm bolt of the older models, and some
wheels don't accommodate the larger bolts.

If the wheels fit the MINI, then $180 sounds like a good deal.
If not, consider that 4 new snow tires in 195/55/16 or 205/50/16
will be about twice that price or more. How much tread is on the
Blizzaks?

mine is a 2005 MCS conv... till what year MINI hub will fit my MINI so thta i cna ask the guy whne i go there on monday...what year did they change the hub? i wan to knwo so thta if it fit i will buy on the spot.

Your earlier posts weren't clear on this point, but your last post now suggests that this is going to be a face-to-face buy....in that event why not TRY the snow tire/wheels on your MINI. Based on your pictures we know the tire size is the same, and the wheels are both 16" so the only unknown at this point is the center hole size and bolt pattern and bolt size. Make sure. TRY the tires/wheels you propose to buy.

but the shop may not be willing to take the trouble ot put on and off the rim and tires just to let me see if it fit... if that happens, what year MINI will fit my 2005 before they chaneg the bolt/hub size?

 

I believe MINI changed to the 14mm bolts with the GP model and the
2007 model year (late 2006), so you should be fine there.

I agree with xqb3b. If you have a jack and a 17mm lug wrench, it only
takes about 5 minutes to pop your wheel off and try on one of the ones you're
thinking about buying.
Let us know how you make out.

Also, if it fits, but the center hole and hub are kind of loosey mated, then it may be a 57.1 mm
centerbore which is common to VW/Audi and a few other makes, which could cause some problems with
centering and stablilty of the wheel on the hub.

 

In which case, ask them if they mind you using their parking lot to try it yourself. As said elsewhere, it won't take you ten minutes start to finish.

 

i just called the seller and its from a 2003... so does it mean it will fit? if so, i iwll go and get it..

 

If it's from a 2003 and you have a 2005 it should be fine.

2nd link is (I think) the rim (wheel) only, no tire.

 

just buy them, that price is great for any snow/tire package. They are a 4x100 bolt pattern they should fit. If not craigslist them in the fall for a profit =)
