Though there are quite a few opinions on this, a very good BMW tech friend of mine told me that the rotors are normally replaced after every 2nd or 3rd brake pad change--depending on how much wear is on them, but not every pad change. Based on the miles I've driven---65,000 miles on my first MINI and 84,000 miles on my current--it seems about right.

If you want a pad rotor combo that will stop better, last longer and dust less send me a PM. If you are under the free pad/rotor plan at the dealer let them buy them, I won't give them a dime for OEM brake parts.

Thanks for all the info - since these are OEM , Im gonna replace rotors /pads -
I dont run hard much-unless I have to dust some 'euro-car' freak ( thats another thread) - but just looking for basic rotors/pads that will handle maybe 1/per year mountain trip( MOD ) - and last for at least 2 pad changes
Carquest rotors w/ 'blue' pads appeal based on other info -
Any obvious reasons not to go that way ??
PS - Shania loves COOPERs!!
