Rear Brake - 02-03 vs. post 03

While shopping for brake pads, I noticed 02~03 rear brake pads are different part number compare to 04~06. Anyone knows the difference or changes to post 03 rear brakes?

Thanks in advance for you input.

Which pads?

Wear Sensors didn't come on 02 .... introduced late 03 maybe?

I think you are just seeing one number for the slot for the sensor and one for no slot. Some pads come both ways ... some have just dropped the no slot version cuz having the slot but not putting on the sensor is no biggie....even when you buy the slot version, there's only a sensor on one side....

If you look at EBC green for example, they sell one pad..fits both ways....all years on GEN1.

Having worked on cars on both sides of that line - 03/04 - that's the only difference I'm aware of.

Rear EBC Green

That makes sense, and come think of it I think a friend of my with '05 had mentioned that before.

Funny through, its looking at EBC catalog when I notice the different offering base on year. For Pre '03 the part number is DP21389, post '03 is DP21701.

I know the SS lines you can get are different. My Green Stuff's have the slot for the sensor but the car doesn't have it so....

So I guess I should say

MOSS is only carrying one part #

It would not surprise me that if you ordered the other #, you'd get a "replaced by" notice....

I get that a LOT when ordering parts for the 79..... when the new part is functionally the same, they drop the older one but keep the number around for reference if a customer returns to buy again.

just a guess....

I know the pads are pretty much the same (with sensor hole can be subbed on a car w/out them) but the hoses changed fitting style in mid '03:

I remember having to having to check my doorjamb awhile ago for something and memorized the production date on mine to avoid any confusion.
