Why are they on close out?
Discontinued? Goodyear.com doesn't say anything about them closing out....
Good deal for sure.....

I recently got 215/40/17 for $80/each + $50 rebate. Great tire. Loving it.

Clearance for older stock? Maybe more in stock than they want to keep storing.
Prices vary since sources can vary and age of tires may be new or older.

I was eyeing them at $73 (IIRC), at $56 had to pull the trigger. Thanks for the heads up!

FYI the stock at Tirerack is 2004 Germany production.
Alex assured me that they have been stored properly at Goodyear and should not be a problem and that he has sold tires older than that.
I might have to pick up 12 of these....or 16....

Got mine installed today. So far, so good!
Before I search, any pressure recommendations?
Shop set them at 30(?!)
I'm thinking 33-35 like the stockers, no?

when they put mine on they put them at 30-31 as well. Felt a little sidewall flex so I put them at 35 all the way around and it is razor sharp now

If I thought I could store these for a little over a year without the rubber going bad I would buy 4 more because they are so cheap. Does anybody know if storing in a garage would be good idea or not?

Out of direct sunlight, off the floor (I use 2x4's) & away from bench motors. Cool and dry is best.

And now to make it even better, Goodyear is offering a $50 rebate on these tires!

Any idea how long the closeout will last? I'm going to need a set in the not-so-distant future...

I bought a set of these in a 215/40/16 from TireRack a few weeks ago... only $78 on close out. When they arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they are the "Made in Germany" kind and not the inferior ones from China.
That great price + a $50 rebate (paid for shipping) made me a very happy camper!

Ok, I jumped on this too. Not sure when these will get here, but if at the end of the week, I will be traveling...
My wife will probably not be pleased, but who can pass up this price with the rebate.
I figure my Ziex 912s will be down to nothing and noisy after this winter and these tires will go well with my new TSW R56 springs coming this week.
I'm thinking a Spring install party will be fun.

I'd call & ask Alex how long the sale goes on & how many he has got. The $50 cash back ends at the end of the month.

My tires were on my front porch today before noon.
Less than 24 hour delivery. Way to go Tire Rack!
They are now mounted & balanced. I'll put them on the MINI this weekend & give them a whirl.
