Non-RunFlat 18" tire recommendations please
It's time to get rid of my Dunlop 205/40/18's RF's for some Non Run Flats. I can't stand the noise and harshness any longer ...
I've been thinking of changing to 215/35/18 or staying with 205/40/18's. My car is a factory JCW MCS Cabrio with JCW R105 18's.
Can anybody give me recommendations on tire size and tire choice?
I use the car as a daily driver in So Cal (very little rain to worry about) and I live in the mountains so I do a little canyon carving each day.

In a 205/40R18, we have the Toyo Proxes 4
This tire has very good dry handling and will also handle nicely in the occasional wet weather in your area.
215/35R18 would be a nice size to run becasue you get more contact patch on the road, but the side wall size will make your ride very bumpy.
What kind of mileage are you looking for in the new set of tires you want?

They couldn't possibly be bumpier than my 205/40/18 Dunlop Runflats could they?
Also, the 215/35's should have the same overall diameter as the 205/40's right?
I have the R105 18 by 7' wheels with 15mm spacers. Would the 215's fit correctly or are they too wide for a 7" rim?
Any help would be appreciated.

I dumped the stock 2015/40/18 runflats for 215/35/18 General Exclaim UHPs. Tirerack.com ranked them No 1 in the size, and for $82 a pop. Been nothing but happy with the handling and noise, and they are smoother than the 40-series RFs. For sure, the ride is stiff, but for me it is no big deal.
