New tires for Ultralegerra 17"

So, now that the all-season runflats are back on our MCS, it's time to start shopping for new summer performance tires. We got our Ultralegerras shipped to us from Tire Rack with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 215/45/17 tires. They have since worn quite a bit, and have given up a great deal of their grip. I can sometimes find myself going a bit hot into a corner and understeering with no throttle, and at some point the tires catch and I am hurled without warning towards the inside of the corner. Not so much fun, considering the breaking point of the tires seems to vary even if road conditions and temps do not.

I've been told that there are better-suited tires out there for the Mini, and I was interested at what you all thought would be a particularly good tire for what I'm looking for. I need a performance summer tire that is still very good in the rain, and moderate cold, but anything under 40 F and any snow will always be handled by the old set of tires.

Any suggestions?

I just ordered wheels and these tires from Tire Rack today. What kind of mileage do you get from them? After looking through all the summer tires they looked like the best tire for the price. Thanks

They were great when they were new, mileage is about 25-27 mpg, and it's driven mostly in the suburban B-roads, and driven HARD, never with A/C. Only other mod than the wheels/tires is a Helix CAI (great noise btw). We have a bit shy of 20,000 miles on them, and they're showing signs of significant wear. Great tires, but it's time to replace em. I have no idea how the mileage will correlate to a turbo'd Clubman versus an '05 S though.

I have the same wheels and use Avons. They have been great in all conditions and the price is very reasonable.

My wife has an 07 MCS with 18" Black JCW's. We have been running the Yoko S-Drives 205-40-R18 and love them. We have approx 9k on them and the wear has been great, very grippy, smooth ride and, very quite. I have a 04 JCW and have been running BF KDW's on 17" BBS and we love the S-Drives so much that I will be switching to 17" OZ Ultraleggera's, with Yoko S-Drives. I know others who have this set up and love it. The KDW's are just to damn loud!
