Falken 912 absolutely SUCK as an all season tire.

Wow do the 912's suck a$$ for an all season tire. We had that huge snow in the midwest and got about 1 foot of snow. I drove our jeep several days after but my wife needed it after that. I shoveled the gravel driveway best I could leaving probably 2-3 inches of packed snow down. We have a very small and short hill into the driveway. I could not make it up that even with a moving start. I had to eventually back up really far (100+ feet) and make a run at it because I could not even get enough traction to obtain enough momentum for making it up the 10 feet of shallow hill.

Before these I had continental extreme contacts and I thought those were just okay in the snow. The Conti's are a snow tire compared to these crappy falkens. They are okay in the summer and suck in the winter. I am glad this will be my last season of mini driving in the winter as we will have a 3rd car next year.

The conti extreme contacts did wonderfully in the snow and they are all season. The 912's really are a summer tire with a all season compound IMHO.

I got through an Omaha winter in mine without getting stuck. Sumitomo HTR+'s are doing better, though. The Falkens are excellent in non-snow conditions.

It's about time for me to replace the Falken 512s on my car, and I was actually looking at the 912s as replacements.

Snow/ice aren't issues for me, but how are the 912s in the wet?

I agree with the original poster that the 912's are worthless in the snow. They work very well on wet pavement, however. I'm real happy with mine, but use snow tires in the winter.

Yeah, Scott, I really like the 912's in most conditions. Quiet, good grip on wet/dry roads, and seem to be wearing pretty well (albeit after only about 7,000 miles).

But I bought them only for our MCSC because it is only a weekend driver and we knew we wouldn't be driving it in the snow/ice.

Should be a fine choice for you.

Great - that makes me feel better about the 912s, thanks. I'm pretty happy with the 512s that are on the car now, and I got 35k miles out of them, but I guess they've been discontinued now, so I'll try out the 912s.

If I have to get another set of all seasons I will be looking else where. I doubt however that I will be getting another set of all seasons. The mini will be a 3rd car soon and will never go out in snow again after that. Probably hardly even in the rain as its so easy to keep a perfectly detailed car that way.

I just replaced my track worn Ecsta ASXs with some of those new Goodyear Eagle GT all-seasons and I'm very pleased with them.

The very next day drove from Richmond up to Detroit during one of the worst snow storms they had in a while. I did occasionally have to turn off the DSC to get moving from a standstill, but once I was moving I had absolutely no problems with traction. Made me feel pretty good for a guy who has almost no experience driving in the snow after seeing all the cars on the side of the road from spinouts and wrecks.
