I need quiet summer tires

I'm currently running Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons and have decided I would like move up to a dedicated summer tire. It would be nice if I could find a performance tire that's quieter than the F1's. I'm also planning on some HPDE classes this year. So, something that will also hold up well on the track. Thanks for the input.

Hankook Ventus RS2's. Great grip, won't kill your wallet.

What part of "quiet" didn't get translated?

So far the Michelins sound like a good option for me. Any others?

Mine were pretty darn noisy on my 540 after 5k miles. They are cheap though.

I got some Yokohama S.Drives replacing some Eagle F1 GS-D3s and they're noticeably quieter. Not very good in the wet though.

Kumho SPT is faily quiet - in the lower grip catagory.

Sumitomo HTRZ III - not very noisy for a max performance choice, and aysemetric, so they can be cross rotated and kept just as quiet.

Thank you Alex!

the Sumitomos sound like a great tire for the money and at 316.00 vs. 532.00 for the PE2's. It's very tempting to try these out.

This kinda reminds me of the Mercury car insurance commercials that goes,
"I want my shirt pressed and not pressed" and the other one that goes
"I want to go to Downtown LA and LAX [airpot]."

How do you like the tires so far? What size did you get?

I'm replacing a set of Kumho Ecsta SPTs in 215/45R17. Do I need to be concerned about XL load rated tires for the MINI?

Other possibilities:

Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport
Nokian Z G2 (pricey)

I've always hated buying tires as you cannot try before committing to something for the next several years.

Bridgestone offers a 30 day buy and try on the 760.

You can have your trial, and not be committed.

So, I decided to go with the Sumitomos. Had them installed today. So far, quiet and smooth.

For those of you who bought them, what tire pressure are you running? I have 215/45R17s. Stock inflation is supposed to be 33 pounds.
