Cooper Tires

specifically the ZEON 2XS as compared to the Dunlop Star Spec Z1's in a 215/45/17 for my '05 JCW. This not my daily driver and I do both autoX and HPDE's a couple of time a year. I've been running GY F1 GS D3's as my last 2sets and have been pretty satisfied but they are getting a little pricey. Just wondering at $50/tire less than the Dunlops how they would stack up.
TIA.....

can't speak for Mini sizes but I have a pair of Cooper Lifeliners on my wife's Civic. Tread holds OK but I need to fill air frequently despite several return trips to tire dealer to clean rim and remount.

I had a set of Michelin's before on this ride and never a problem

One off? Don't know but don't think I'm runnin' Coppers on mine

My last two sets of tires have been the Cooper Zeon 2XS(215/45/17)...they are a great performance tire for the price. They have excellent dry grip and unbelievable wet grip. The teadwear was very good considering a rating of only 280, but I rotated them on a regular basis. They have a very stiff sidewall which helps the cornering stability.

Here is my testament to the unbelievable wet grip...

In the pouring rain on the Dragon, the car stuck like glue. The road didn't even feel wet...

...man, my car looks a lot different now.

Willum I've run some great tires in the last three sets. Azenis 615 , Bridgestone REO1R and now Dunlop Z1. I'd say they have gotten progressively better. The Dunlops fits well with the 215x40x17. The 45 profile could be a tight squeeze but I'm not sure. It depends on your wheel offset and lowering heights. The Bridgestones were 215x45x17 and when new they rubbed to the point that I had to trim some plastic on the top inner lip of the back wheel wells. I'm about 1.25 in. lowered with a 43 offset. The negitives of noise and harshness for the Dunlops are in my range of tolerance and they grip very well. Got a $50 rebate so the cost was $114 a tire plus shipping ,balancing etc.
