Has/Is Anyone running RE01R 225/50/16 on their R56?

Searched, but couldn't find any definites.

This is the only tire I'm asking about, no others. Just want to know if anyone has tried successfully or unsuccessfully to run them. If successful I'd like to know rim width and offset needed for correct clearance.

Thanks in advance!

Well I got the tires regardless, since they were so cheap!

NO! They won't fit without some kind of fender flare or jacking the car up!

These tires have an amazing treadwidth of 9", they are more like a 235/45 than a 225/50.

Oh well, guess I'll have to use them on the Bimmer, DARN

Actually those might be ok given the correct offset wheel. I'm currently running a 235/40-17 Z1* on stock, non-sport, suspension with a E45 offset 17x8" wheels. There is 100% no rubbing or contact anywhere.

Given that the 225/50-16 is 0.25" radius taller than the 235/40-17, it's possible there will be enough clearance between the top of the inner fender well and the tire. It's probably better to go with a smaller diameter tire given how far off the Mini speedo is, but since you have the tires.

Just a thought.

How did you actually try fitting them? Did you mount them on a set of wheels and try them out? If so, what wheels and where were they actually rubbing? I ask because I bought a set in the recent closeout sale as well and am trying to figure out if they will fit.

I also ordered a set of the RE01R's a few weeks ago. For the price, I couldn't pass up the deal without giving them a try.

The bottom line is, yes they could fit with the right suspension/wheel setup on an R56. Probably have to be a wheel with a 35 offset. He is borrowing a tire from me later this week to test it on his lowered R56.

I agree with iNetMANN that the tire is very very wide for a 225 series. Seriously we placed the tire next to a 245 series low profile Yokohama tire at NTB, and the 225 RE01R was wider.

However, I'm running Rota Slipstreams 16x7 with et40 offset. With my Megan Coilovers with skinny linear rate springs, we got the tires to fit inside the rear by using -3.5 degrees of camber. In the front, we had to use a 5mm spacer to clear the front shock and not rub.

However, once I took the car off the rack and lowered it, there was extreme rubbing over bumps in the rear and the car just looked silly running almost -4 degrees of rear camber.

I currently have them for sale in the marketplace. Anyone know of any other sites I might try selling them on?

HAHAHAHA-

Now you can see what I was talking about. No way, with the way I drive, could I ever run these tires...

I sold mine in 3 days for a $150 profit. Highly sought after tires by Autocrossers... hint hint hint

I'm wanting to put them on a car with the stock sport suspension. Looking quickly at the clearance on the car now with the stock 195/55/R16's, it looks like maybe the closest point for the fronts is the shock body around 13 mm clearance and the closest point on the rears is to the control arm. I don't think I will have any problems with anything diameter related, as I've got plenty of clearance to the outside fender and fender lining. I'm just not sure on the inner clearance with the wider tire.

I plan to test fit on a stock wheel, to see if they'll work. Does anyone know for sure what the offsets are on a set of R83 (5-star) wheels:

or the R102 (S-winder) wheels:

Are they both Offset +48? I have both and am just wanting to make sure which would give me more inside clearance to verify fitment with.

Yeah thanks good idea. I just blew my engine this past weekend and will be out of commission for at least 2-3 months , but at least I think I will have a custom twin-charge setup at the end.

Without question these tires will fit width-wise. I'm betting it's possible to get a 245 to fit with the correct sized wheel and a little camber (-1.5deg) in the front. The rear is relatively cavernous taking maybe even a 255.
With a ET35 the wheel will have almost an inch of inner clearance in the front. Why not go higher in the offset?

The RE01R is actually a narrow tire for it's segment. Both the Dunlop D1* and the Yokohama AD07 is much wider than they say.

mega bump for this...

looking at a 16x7 rpf1 with offset of 43mm - thinking about 225/45 or 225/50, any advice on whether or not this will fit for the R56?

I previously ran 205/50-16 on the bridge spokes & sport suspension (offset 48mm?) and i dont remember ever worrying about any fitment issues - 225/45 should be totally fine though? But I need to try this on JCW suspension as well...

17x7 RPF1's will fit, so I'd assume 16" ones would, assuming this if for your new Cooper (not a JCW).

215's fit, I was just at the track on those yesterday. I've heard a lot of people same 225s fit, but I've not tried. They'd be a bit tall if you're thinking of this for an autocross setup, I'm thinking of 15x6.5 with 225/45-15.

yeah it would be for autox - so yea i'm just not sure if i'd have a full range of movement. but it seems like they can fit a wide range of tires, and 205/50-16 were fine... but yea not sure about 225/45-16

I want to put 225/50R16's on my '09 Clubman S. Think there would be any rubbing issues with stock wheels and suspention?
