Goodyear Eagle GT's
I just put a set on yesterday, after a lot of research in deciding what to replace my F1 GS D3's with. I run 205-50-16, and like that size. I wasn't interested in going back to the runflats, and don't need to anyway, as I have a non-S Cooper. I've got the donut underneath. I've never tracked the car, and don't ever want to, so that really wasn't an issue. I tried to get another set of F1 GS D3's, but as you may know Goodyear has DISCONTINUED that size . I loved that tire, but only got 25,000 miles out of them. That was about what I expected from a high-performance tire. Anyway, I almost went with the Michelin PE2's, but I couldn't spring for the coin difference right now (about $45 per corner). I like the rim protector on the Goodyear GT's (very deep) and the aggressive tread pattern on them. They are 3 weeks old; the date code is 2909. My garage smells like a tire shop. I love it. By the way, Discount Tire did find 4 F1 GS D3's in my size, but they wanted $192 each . I was also worried about the date code on them, since they may have been sitting around somewhere because they are being discontinued in my size.
Anyway, I had the chance to drive home in the rain yesterday and the GT's handled well. Definitely a bit more flex in the turns than the GS D3's, but I expected it switching over to an all-season tire. On the plus side, we do get a winter storm or two around here, so I'll have a leg up on the GS D3's when it happens. I was all over the place last winter trying to drive in a few inches of snow on the GS D3's. Road noise seems about the same, and I don't think it's a factor. They should wear better than the GS D3's.
Hope this helps.

I run Eagle GT's on my non-MINI. I needed an inexpensive tire that would hopefully last more than a couple of seasons (I still run dedicated snows during the Winter, but I drive a LOT). They get the job done, but IMHO, should not be considered a "performance" tire and are a pale substitute for the GSD3. SCMG - you are not the only one angry about them being discontinued.
Not being able to get the GSD3's we wanted, I bought a set of Dunlop Direzza Star-Specs for our Cooper Sidewalk. Amazing tire - I am stunned at the level of dry grip. These will probably go on the MCS as well when the GSD3's finally give up the ghost, although we don't expect them to last as long as the Goodyears did (on their 4th season - about 30K miles, maybe?).
