The offset is to low to run those on a mini.
Also, another thing to take into account when looking to have rims re-drilled would be the center bore diameter, some are coming off cars with a larger center bore and will not be able to be re-drilled since the new holes would extend into the center bore since the Mini hubs are smaller.
Mine are +43 front & +40 rear and I'm running spacers, ideally you would want a +32 up front and +25 in the rear, it also depends on the width of the rims, since most the width is on the barrel side and would end up rubbing against either the inside of the fenders or your suspension.

I do have to agree...it's just a bit too low. 16x8 et15 is do-able with a great deal of camber and tire stretch. 16x8 et20 is a bit better with moderate stretch and a little poke. 16x8 et35 for a flush tuck fit.

I wouldn't say "way too low" It's only like 5mm too low for a nice stance.
