Wheel hangers?

I've been scouring the internet looking for a wheel hanger from the R56. Does anyone know of a place that I can buy a 14mm x 1.25" wheel hanger to assist in rotating tires?

Thanks!

This is a wheel hanger. Basically a rod with your thread pattern that helps hold your wheel so you can place your some of your lug bolts in and not have to struggle doing it trying to balance the wheel the normal way.

Hmm... I remember a long long time ago someone may have talked about these for the Mini.

However, I do not remember where they found them... hopefully someone has some insight

It's strange. I did several searches on these and have found them on Ebay, Amazon, and another site, but they are all made and sold by the same people. Are these that specialized that there is only 1 company that makes them?

The RAD USA Direct hangers on Amazon and ebay are 14mm x 1.5. I believe the 2007+ MINIs are 14mm x 1.25. I didn't find any of that size.

Ah, Gotcha. So why is everybody keeping this link a secret only shared through PMs? I'd like to be let in too, I don't have my car yet, but I do a lot of my own work and this would be very helpful.

Do a search for "r56 lug bolt tool" on EBay and you'll get the correct link.

I just ordered one for R-56

I just ordered one on E-Bay for R-56 mini cooper on E-Bay. It was $9.99 which included shipping by U.S. Mail service.

Not so much a secret as linking to an auction site was frowned on at one time(?)

Just Rotated my tires using Robin Casady's wheel hangers.

http://www.robincasady.com/ShiftKnobs/WheelHangers.html

I was a "frustrated wheel bolt installer" & thinking about converting to studs, But I found Robin's wheel hangers - These thing make mounting wheels/tires with wheel bolts a breeze.

And I also discovered a good side benefit from using them. The problem of "wheel centering - hub centric / lug centric " mounting can be checked using Robin's wheel hangers.

I have known that it was important to tighten the bolts tight with the weight off the wheel (still jacked up) so that the cones on the bolts can center the wheel on the hub.

But on the second wheel I mounted, when I tried to remove the hangers with my fingers, they would not move. My first reaction was to use pliers, but thought prevailed and I said to myself "they went in finger tight - they should come out just using my fingers". I loosened the wheel bolts and re-tighten the wheel bolts being careful to rotate the wheel & bring the wheel bolts down evenly. Then I loosened the wheel hangers with my fingers and out they came - this time they where centered. Robins round hangers double checked my work.

Hangers in the hub

Wheel hung on the hangers ready for wheel bolts

Thanks!

Just bought a red anodized pair of the wheel changing studs. Great little tool.
