Is there enough difference between 1st and 2ng gen to make separate forums worth it?

A few quick thoughts on that:

I would think because of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System alone it should be different. Tires wouldn't be any different but brakes and would be. Wheels are interchangeable but some work with the TPMS for the R56 and some do not.

EDIT: Maybe within the TWB forum there should be a General, 1st Gen and 2nd Gen.

Well main differences are:

TPMS vs ABS sensor monitoring
M14 vs M12 lugs
R56 brakes = 1st gen JCW brakes, but the rest are different

Early R56s don't have the TPMS, so that doesn't split cleanly.

I've heard R56 Cooper-S brakes are the same as R53 JCW ones, so that doesn't split cleanly.

I don't see a problem as it is.

Too many posts don't split cleanly, like btwyx said. So maybe some will multiple post into different forums - who wants that. And maybe some will post in the wrong forum. So more effort to find stuff.

What makes more sense to me would be a split by wheel size. I like my stock 16 inchers and none of the discussions of tires not available in 16 are of interest. Still, there would be general info that might have to go into a general forum, and that brings us back to the above issues.

So I can live with things the way they are.

I think separate forums would be confusing. Way too much overlap.
