New Tires for 2005 MINI

We are checking on the best options to buy 4 new tires for my wife's mini.

My question;

Can we buy standard all season tires? does it affect the pressure monitoring system? Is for her peace of mind, I have regulars on my FX35 and they work fine..

No you can use non-runflats just fine. itll ride better too. If you dont have a spare youll just have to figure out other means, but AAA and the like are quite dependable these days.... Most people call them anyway, spare or not.

I personally cannot wait to ditch these darned things for non-RF's....

I dont think we're talking about the same thing here.

I am assuming you have Run-Flat (you can drive on them up to 50mph or so, with no air pressure) tires on your Mini... and your question is if you can use regular tires?...

Regular tires being the type that when flat=rim on the ground...

answer is yes.

Sorry if I misunderstood the original post

The 2005 MINI had no internal TPMS and used a simple wheel rotational speed sensor and compared the measurements over time, throwing the light when it sensed a change. Therefore, you can use any tire type you want. Just reset the system - hold the button under the hand brake till the dash light goes solid, then drive around till it goes off - and you'll be fine.

That's funny, that's just what I did for my wife's 9-5 Aero. They are great! The boys and I are all very . . . tight lipped about it . . . what goes on on the way to Vegas, stays on the way to Vegas. They are decent and stylish tires for her and she won't really notice that when they wear out, it will be soonish. Italian tires, wheels and World Cup Champion bumper sticker. Her tires do tramline a bit, but since we don't have much grooved pavement in the area, it isn't an issue.

HAPPY WITH NEW MICHELIN PILOT SPORT A/S PLUS

I am running the new Michelin Pilot Sport a/s PLUS on my '09 MINI S convertible. I am very happy with this tire. Check out the survey reports at tirerack.com. This tire has a prorated 45,000 mile treadlife warranty. The PLUS is a relatively new tire and is entirely different than the older Michelin Pilot Sport a/s.

Great ride, quiet, good grip wet and dry. I keep a compressor and sealant in the car. I am willing to run without a spare as these are not runflats.
