Hankook Ventus V12

Ok, I did the search and after looking through post after post, I did not find anything on these yet so I am looking for feedback.

I have KDW's on the car now, and while insanely great for traction, they are noise as hell - and I will be commuting to school a bit for the next year and don't want the radio on FULL just to drowned out the noise from tires.

As far as cost goes, they are cheaper - at $95 per unit from Discount - and a $50 rebate for 4 on Hankook until 8/31 I will be making a purchase sooner then later.

Anyone have experience with these and maybe even some long term info?

and Tire rack has them with the same $50 rebate

The Falken ZE 912's are also excellent tires for the same money and they're all season, which may not be a factor for you. In winter here in NC the temps get to a point that summer tires are not effective.
If you go to Vulcan Tire's site you can get a little better pricing than Discount, which Discount will then honor. Just ask them to check Vulcan's price when you go in. Buying at Discount gives you less expensive mounting/balancing than if you bring in a set of tires.
I had a set of KDW's and won't go back. As you stated - NOISY and wet performance was lackluster. Wear wasn't very good either, about 15,000 miles of street use only.
I've tried several different tires and for my summer tires I prefer the Falken Azenis RT-615. Lower wear rating but phenomenal grip, wet or dry, and quiet as well. As far as wear, the 1st set I had lasted 12,000 miles even with a road course weekend (~3 hours of racing) and a 24 hr autocross. They were seriously abused. In normal use I expect better reslults.

thanks for the info.

Winter doesn't play into anything down this far south, and being thsi far south DTD doesn't have any stores, so unless I go up to my house in daytona with the MINI I cannot get that install deal for cheaper.

I did find a nice review by C&D and these preformed extremely well (especially for the money)

They performed 2nd best only to the Dunlop Star Specs.
Probably not much other reviews since tire is just out on market. The Falken ZeixZE912 are also great tires, rated number 1 in Grassroots Motorsports Budget Tire Comparison.

Car & Driver's test turned me on to the Ventus and then I found this information on Hankook's website from a German magazine tire test. They test using front wheel drive cars like the GTI and the Ventus V12 again scored top honors. Here is the actual article page from the magazine's site for those that speak German. I don't.
I've had my set for 1000 miles now and have been in one serious rain storm and have made numerous banzai runs up and down my favorite mountain road...these tires have not disappointed.

I have had these on for about 4Kmiles now and I love them. And I've run the PS2s before on my TT, so I have a comparison. THese are nearly silent, ride great even in 215/45/18, are phenomenal in the rain and very grippy in the dry. Turn-in is excellent as well. I will even leave them on and see what they're like in cold weather. Even the sidewalls look good
Esp. for the price, I couldn't be much happier. I did lots and lots of tire review-reading before buying, and the C&D test convinced me to try them. Glad I did. They even had a $50 rebate going, which I got in about 4 weeks.
I highly recommend them.
