New pads, old rotors.

I'll be putting on my new Hawk HPS's tomorrow, along with new lines and bushings, all up front. My rotors are ATE Premium One from my last brake job, about 40-45k ago. THey haven't hit their wear indicators yet, so I'm sticking with them. Mostly because I'm just broke. Other than cleaning with brake cleaner, is there anything I should do to them before putting the pads in?

Not much more to do... use the lube for the backing plates so they don't squeal.

I installed the HPS pads to my worn-but-still-within-spec. thickness OEM rotors on the rear axle, no worries - plan to do the same on the front axle when the time comes. (R50)

I did more or less the same thing, new pads same rotors. No problems.
Just make sure you have enough thickness and it will last thru the pads (or remember to keep up with the rotor wear).

As you do the install on the pads, inspect the old rotors both sides for any problems.

Normally stock rotors are cheap and worth just replacing at the same time but if you are doing the labor then you can wait. Do inspect your worn rotors on a regular basis. Fronts get much more wear than rears.

Brake fluid is usually worth replacing every 2 to 3 years for best performance.
