I'm thinking about ugradfing my brakes and my 15" hollies(narrow) will not fit over the larger parts , however the 17" spares (wider) I have, will. How much difference will I see with wider snow tires? I need new snows anyways and will probably buy Blizzacks.

The wider tires will float more on deep snow. 185/65/15 would be more effective in deep snow than 205/45/17.

Use your front lower lip to plow the deep stuff out of the way.

Most times a more narrow snow tire will work better but if your snow is not too deep you could do OK with 17" tires.

Just go slower and be careful if deep snow happens. Otherwise you can't really go with a big brake kit and use 15" wheels especially stock wheels.

Do you really need big front brakes?

Just paint the Calliope's red & get some decals that say JCW.

There is a huge difference between a wide & narrow tire for snow driving. Flotation is not what you want.

minihune did you get your snow tire expertise driving through volcanic ash?
