Damaged caliper dust boots - repair/rebuild?
Recent DE, wore out a set of brake pads (which weren't really designed for such conditions). In replacing the pads, rotors, and fluid, found that the piston dust boots appear to have actually melted/torn from the extreme heat. Can I replace the boots or will the calipers need to be rebuilt? Thanks in advance for any insight!

You can get the boot from MINI, they are cheap, but you will need a special tool to have it installed. I would recommed taking the caliper off and have the dealer install it for you. When I found mine ripped I tried to replaced it myself with out the propper tool. After several hours off fighting with it and choice words, I took it to the dealer and they pope it on in 2 seconds with the tool.
No need to rebuild the caliper.
No need to rebuild the caliper.

What type of tool is it? Is the difficulty on the retaining clip (circlip)? Any chance you might have the part number for the boot?
Thanks for the help!

Only special tool needed for the rebuild and boot replacement is a piston retraction tool. IIRC, there's a DIY thread somewhere. Job is messy, but not too bad. You'll need compressed air to remove piston for inner seals on the fronts as may as well do the full rebuild while it's apart. Good luck!
