I'm trying to see if anyone knows if 17x8 Motegi Traklite 2.0's will fit on a 2009 JCW? I want to find a very wide rim that is light, and I'm curious if anyone thinks those will fit.

Yes they will. They are 17x8 42ET. Not sure what tire you are running but Hoosier 225/40-17 fit, the V710 215/40-17, NT01 225/45-17 also fit. On my car and R53 the 225/45-17 Toyo R888 did not fit (taller and wider than tires mentioned above) without cutting some wheel well and fender trim, but the R56 has alot more space in wheel well than R53. Which color Motegis do you have by the way? I have 2 sets a Black w/ Machine Polished Lip and Flat Teflon Black, well they were flat black now they are all Polished Aluminum.

I don't have them yet. I'm trying to decide on a purchase for next year. The STX class doesn't allow anything with a treadwear below 140, so Hoosiers and V710's are out of the question. I'll probably end up buying some Kumho Exsta XS's which seem to be a very fast street tire for autox.

Any suggestion of tire size with a 17x8 42mm offset rim?

 

The Kumho XS only good size for the 17x8 42ET wheel might be the 215/45-17, although the 225/45-17 may fit? I'd prefer they had a 215/40-17 but I would really wish they had 225/40-17, cause the tall O.D. will kill your gearing even further. The Dunlop Star Spec and YokohamaAD08 both come in 215/40-17. Also, the preferred auto-x set-up is on 15's but don't know what 15's would clear your JCW/Brembos. Here is more info about the XS.
