Question related to Tires

Okay, so I had been driving around for about 30 minutes at speeds of around 40 to 70 mph. At one point I got on the Interstate, just to go to the next Exit. Well after getting off the Exit Ramp, my TPMS Light came on.

The car I have is a 06 MINI JCW GP which has Run Flat Tires and this is the first car I've owned with Run Flat Tires.

I drove the car back home and let it sit for awhile to let the tires cool down. I then checked the Tire Pressure in all 4 tires and found that One tire was down to around 23 PSI. The Tire Pressure is suppose to be at 38 PSI.

My question is, how do I tell if the Tire needs to be replaced OR was it just low Tire Pressure??

Most of the times I deal with just low tire pressure is on very cold days, before I take the car on a Drive. This hasn't happend with the MINI yet though.

Would I need to take my MINI to a dealer or Service Shop and have them look at the tire??

Thanks.

Fill the low tire to 38, drive, then check again. If it is low again it needs to be serviced; probably picked up a nail. 'Run Flat' does not mean 'Puncture Proof.'

Right, I'd refill to 38# but also visually inspect the tire. Most of the time if it picked up a nail it'll be visible. If you see a nail DO NOT PULL IT OUT but take your car to have the tire fixed. (If you pull out the nail your slow leak will become a fast leak.) If you find nothing... then monitor that tire for a while to make sure it stays inflated. If it continues to loose air then it needs to be serviced. Often times a tire will loose air for some reason and then not loose it again but you must not ignore it.

Well, I don't plan on Ignoring this. I'll keep monitoring the Tire after I fill the low tire up to 38#.
