All Seasons Needed!!!

I'm looking for some good all season NON-RFT'S for my lady's MCS, I looked at the Falken Ziex ZE-912 Tire as recommended by another NAMer however Im hearing that they don't do well in the snow. Anyone know of some all seasons that are safe/reliable in all conditions first. Good performance second.

Thanks in advance,

Justin

I really like my Bridgestone Potenza Grids. I'm running 215/45 R17s and they do just fine in the snow.

For High Performance All-Seasons...
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=HPAS

or for Ultra High Performance All-Seasons...
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...jsp?type=UHPAS

In any case, I spent ALOT of time on NAM and Tirerack researching before I bought tires for the MCS.

I'm running Kumho Ecsta ASX's and I am very impressed with them. I was able to get out during the latest "snowmageddon" in D.C. and the only problem I had was areas that had so much snow/slush that my lowered MINI was having to plow. Even then, It kept going until I had a license plate outline in the pile of slush ahead of me. I had the same tire - different size - last fall on a run that included some great twisties on wet roads with lots of wet leaves and never had a problem. I've run 215/50R-16, 225/50R-17 and now, I'm running 235/40R-17's. They do carry them at Tire Rack and we'll be putting a set of them on my spouse's 350Z very soon.

Don't think UHPAS tires will work as well as dedicated winter tires. But these fare top of the heap: Continental ExtremeContact DWS.

I'm considering General Altimax

I'm thinking of getting these for my 16" S wheels. They trade the V rating for much longer treadlife, and the reviews seem to be very positive, especially as all-season tires. I'd appreciate any comments from owners of these tires (if there are any....)

I have a set on my 02 cooper and put a set on my daughters Hyundai.

Great tires, awesome wet and snow traction. They get great reviews at the tirerack from everyone who rates them they are in the top of their category. I very much appreciate their quite ride, the contis I had on before where very loud compared to these.

I have about 7K miles on my BF Goodrich GForce Super Sport AS 205/50R-16 87H (mounted on Bridgespoke wheels) and have been really happy with them so far. Haven't really pushed any snow with them. Mostly dry highway and ice packed roads around town.

Got these and I am 100% happy with them. Amazing in snow. Quieter than RFs. Smoother ride. Used at VIR in the rain and they gripped like glue! An all around excellent tire.

Well, living where I do and having seen my share of snow .......I'll respectfully say that they don't make an all season that will keep your car on the road, anywhere near as well as a good winter tire. We don't get huge amounts of snow in this part of Canada, but with what we do get, plus the freezing temps and the black ice, I'd never consider all seasons. If you want to be safe and still have a tire that looks good on the car, go with 4 Goodyear Ultra Grips (they work very well and they're a good looking tire, no one will be able to tell they are winter tires....if that matters to you) or the Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3. I know you don't get a ton of snow in KY, but it's enough that I would never take a chance with all seasons...IMHO

Sorry, I should have clarified.....Goodyear makes more than one type of Ultra Grip; it's the "Goodyear Ultra Grip Performance 2" that you would want, if you decided to go with winter tires and the Goodyears.

Although Tire Rack doesn't show it on their website, Goodyear does make it in 215/45/17 according to their site.

When I was living in Canada, I used Nokian WR tires on my car and it was the best all season tires ever. I do have to say that the summer performance isn't as good as other all seasons, but on the snow, the traction is as good as most winter tires.
Even for winter tires I swear by Nokian Hakkapeliitta tires.

when did these take the cake? i had been eyeing the pilot sport AS+ and the 960AS.
In snow, DWS and Extreme contact have consistantly been exceptional.

The 960's and Pilot Sport AS+ are superior for agressive handling.

Re960's are exceptional in water, and very decent in snow.

Pilot Sport AS+ is the best dry handleing, also a pretty smooth ride.

+1 for the Pilot Sport AS +
(admittedly no snow in central CA - but quite a bit of rain)
