Almost time for new tires for my 07 Cabrio. What are people using/recommending?

I also have an R52. A JCW with 18" wheels. I just replace the runflats with Hankook Ventus V12 Evos in the 215/40-18 size. That's one size up in the width from the stock 205/40-18's the car came with. I had to remove the 15mm wheel spacers that the previous owner had added, but after that, no rubbing in any condition. And the tires stick like glue, are very predictable at the limits of their grip, wet weather performance is excellent, and they're quiet.

See this tire review: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...mparison_tests

New Tires

Try the Yokohama Avid Envigor. I'm running a 215/45R17 on a set of BBS 17x7 wheels. It's an all season tire that looks great and does nicely so far this summer. Hopefully they will be great this winter. They are very quiet and yet look very aggressive.

Bought a set from Quick Lane and got a $100.00 rebate. They matched on line pricing and only charged $15.00 a tire for balancing and mounting--plus they threw in free lifetime balancing and rotation. Sofar the ride, noise and handling is vastly improved. I won't miss the run flats.

Glad you like them! Yokohama tires always have a great ride. I almost picked up a set of these when I was on the search earlier in the year but the deal on the old Continental Extremecontact was too good to pass up!

Michelins here !!!

I just replaced my Dunlap 205/45/17 run flats with Michelin Exalta PE2 215/45/17 non-run flats. If I knew the good difference these tires would make on my 2009 JCW I would have done it way sooner. I can actually hear my radio now at 75mph instead of tire growl. The car is 1 thousand "NO" 1 million percent smoother and as hard as I tried I could not get the car to hydroplane in a heavy rainstorm coming home from Orlando the other day. They are summer only tires and I live in Florida so not a problem for me. I bought a Slime kit "just in case of a puncture" and I do belong to AAA.

Not only do these tires perform excellent, They also look excellent on my car. A tad taller and a little wider sure make a great visual improvement.

I carry my slime and compressor in the cubby hole under the mat in the trunk

Would you be able to take a pic of your tire and post on here. I am interested in the Yokohamas and would love to see them mounted up close.

Thanks!

I have the Yoko Envigors 215/45R17's as well. I agree with JBC4317 on the feel and performance. I do have some pics in my gallery if you would like to see them installed. Skip the first pic and the next 4 are with the Yoko's installed.

It seemed at the start of summer everyone was all about the Dunlop Z1 Star Spec's. From other review it sounds like a great every day (only in the summer) tire.

I personaly am going to be using Nitto's infamous NT-01, when I return home. I am making my car into a track day and weekend special, so I am not realy concearned about anything but max performance. Theese tires are not recomended for daily street use, in snow, or wet conditions.

Ronnie948, Do I see a Samurai in your garage? I am the proud owner of one aswell. There are a few rouge pictures of mine floating around on NAM.

I guess I am just assuming that OP is looking for a good al-season (living in Conn) of which the Yokos and Contis suggested fit the bill. Others are the Nitto NeoGen and Falken 912. The Contis rate high on Tire Rack

I've have a recent picture of our MCS with the Yokos on it as I discussed above. Check out my gallery under my MINI Family. There's a pic of the left front that shows the tread design pretty well. Still love there treads! Stay cool.....
